My office is 3 blocks from the AMI building where this stuff was found. Kind of gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
BTW, I read on CNN that the stuff has the synthetic signature of a strain made in Iowa. |

Has anyone thought about whats going to happen if things escalate very quickly, and the whole thing gets out of control? I personally have felt that things have been playing out kind of weird, almost like slow motion. Not trying to be an alarmist, just wondering.

We have the ability to kill ALL of them. They don't have the ability to kill all of us. The introduction of weapons of mass destruction gives us the moral authority to do what is needed. |

Whenever I hit the edges and set the buzzer off in Operation, it used to make me jump out of my skin. I hate that game.
Anyway, is there any kind of vaccine available to the public? How effective is the vaccine, and would it protect against these different strains? |

The military wasn't havine good luck with their anthrax vaccine, if you recall. There was only one contractor making it, and their FDA license had expired. They were also having some serious quality control problems. Also, some military members were experiencing serious side effects -so bad that a lot of pilots resigned rather than have to take the shot and risk losing their livelihood for the rest of their lives.

It didn't say they had a IOWA signature, it said it has the signature of a strain that is produced in IOWA. Which also means the same strain could have been produced in Russia, or anywhere else. IRAQ , even. So CNN needs to keep their words concise.

I just heard over the news that the Anthrax was manufactured in a US lab during the 1950's. It sounds like they are investigating how it got loose.

My assertion I think, logically, still holds up. Hell the information could have been given to the soviets and then manufactured. 1950's??? I bet its manufacture is 1990+. I will put my money on IRAQ or USSR manufacture.

Hmm, one can die in 5 days and the vaccination is for 3 injections given 2 weeks apart followed by injections at 6,12 and 18 months.
Uhhh, hello. 5 days later you are dead. I guess to be vaccinated you need to get shots 18 months before you are exposed. weeeeee. |

If it was made in the USA, then Iraq is responsible. It was reported back during the gulf war that some iraqi's had purchased anthrax, as well as some other bacteria/viruses from the facility in rockville, MD. For some reason, the FTC let the transfer go through. That facility holds mostly US manufactured biological weapons(as well most other discovered diseases such as the wonderful plagues and smallpox). There was a big stink on all of the news programs interviewing the company asking how they could sell it to iraq, and the company stated all foreign orders go to the FTC for aproval before shipping, meaning the FTC screwed up big time.
As bad as this antrax outbreak is, maybe it'll give us something solid to put iraq in the crosshairs. |

Can anyone say "[b]Hoof & Mouth disease[/b]" the company in Iowa makes the vaccine for inoculations.
So unless you caught it from your cows, sheep or goats, it came from a company making the vaccine. IMHO this is all smoke & mirrors paranoia by the media. Mike |
