What kind of scoped set up do you have?

I'm curious to know how the ACOG works vs. say a Leupold 1.5 to 6X power or vs. a Leapers 4X or some other lower powered scope.

Also - how accurate is your AR with the scope?

Mostly interested in a lower powered scope on a rifle for accurate mid range shooting - 150 to 250 yards.

I don't have a scope per se, but a C-More Tactical red dot sight.  Its far better and easier to shoot with than the AR sights.  Its a strain trying to use those peep sights.  I am far more accurate with the red dot which I can keep both eyes open with.

I have a Nikon 3-9x40 on my A2. It shoots great. But, when shooting service rifle, I have to remove it, thus zero it again for critter blasting. Some day I'll have two uppers!

BM Shorty Ak w/a Trijicon Reflex II 12.5 moa triangle

BM 16" carbine w/a Hitech 8x QR handle mount scope

BM 24" Vmatch w/a BSA Contender 6-24X-50mm on a Armalite 1 piece mount

The Reflex is probably good for under 2moa, the powered scope less than 1 moa.  Depends on the shooter, of course.

I think the ACOG would work well for what you want, but it depends on what you are shooting at.  The Reflex works well in that range for man (sized) targets.  A fixed 10X would give you some great accuracy.  Maybe the Tasco Super Sniper 10X-42mm.  That's probably my next purchase.

I'm using the ATN 5x33L on my Colt Match Target Lightweight carbine.  It works great, and the recticle is awsome.

I've got one of the Springfield Govt. scopes on my DPMS 24 spcl.  It sit's on a set of ARMS throw lever rings.  I'm really pleased with it and the rangfinding capabilities are an added bonus.  It'll shoot a 1/2 MOA easily.

Currently a 3-9x40 rubber armored leapers.  Works for now, and is great for a cheep scope, but it just does not cut it.  Will be switching to a Leupold 3.5-10x40 soon.

I use a Trijicon ACOG NSN 4x on my M4. The scope could be run over by a tank and still function. An absolutely incredible rifle optic. It also comes with built in, back-up iron night sites.

If you are looking for bomb-proof optics and can spend between $750.00 - $1000.00, there is nothing better....period.

Yes...no...yes....sometimes.
When i do, I use a B-square "see through" mount with a 6-24x 40mm Tasco scope so I can spot my shots. Works great for shooting tiny objects at great distance. On 24x I can watch what my breathing and trigger control are doing to my point of impact. I can frequently get great subMOA groups with handloads.

I have an early SP1.  I have been using a red dot on my flat-top M4gery, but when I get the 11 1/2" barrel, I think I'm going to stick with the A1 upper for light weight, simplicity, and reliablility.

I might end up getting a 20" or 24" barrel later and install it on the flat-top upper that I have now.  Then I'll probably put some kind of Mil-dot scope on it.

I use an ELCAN on my flattop.  It's a great scope.  Not cheap, but quality never is.  It's a very bright scope and works great for low light levels.

It's much easier to use the ELCAN than sights.  That's seems like a pretty obvious statement, and it's true.  The gun itself isn't any more accurate of course, but you can really put bullets exactly where you want with a good scope.

I've never tried an ACOG, so I can't tell you how they compare.

I have the ATN 5x33L mounted on the carry handle of my Colt. It's mounted using ARMS #22 low-height throw lever rings on an ARMS #39A2Plus carry handle mount. For this setup I have a delta cheekpiece.

My 24" flat-top carries a Tasco SS10X42M also mounted with ARMS #22 rings on an ARMS #36-EX base. This rifle could really use a 6x20 power scope as its primary mission is rodents and the like (I don't mean Democrats).

i have one of those cheap chinese 4X with range adjusting recticle for 35 bucks!(believe it or not it works relatively well!) and i have a Pro Point Holographic site! i love this! since there is no magnification you can use both eyes when shooting, and plant it where you want it![sniper]

Tasco SS10x42M (Side Focus) - a much better scope than I anticipated.  Well worth four bills.  Also I use a Simmonds 2.5-10x50mm Pro 50.  It's okay, but nothing like the SS.

I have a Leupold VariX III 1.75X6 power mounted on a flat top receiver with a low mount "block" in between. The low mount does not lose it's zero when taken off. I have the new style duplex reticle, which is not quite as heavy lines as the military style reticle.

I love it. The clarity is really, really good, and the low power has a very good field of view.
At low light the heavy reticle still allows you to aim with good precision and the clarity helps in all but total darkness.

At 300 yards the rifle will put 5 rounds in a sub 3" group, using Rem-UMC 55 grn ball ammo.
(20" Olympic barrel)

I have seen and fired aimpoints and lately an acog. Watched two guys fire side by side on a home made course - one with the acog and the other with a 4X AR/M16 purpose built scope. The acog did not do as well, or at least the shooter did not.

They both looked at my AR and then looked at their scopes and became envious.

Gotta agree with M4 -- the ACOG is great -- I have one on my Bushmaster M4 and I love it. It was highly recomended to me by people who have used the M4 in the real world and can talk about it - they shoule know.

Michler---front sight does not "block" the Trijicon. You notice a slight blur at the bottom of the scope, but after a few rounds you don't. You're concentrating on the cross hairs so your mind just "edits" it out. ACOG TA01 on my Bushy shorty yields sub moa groups at 100 yds. And at the end of the day, when sun is going down, the tritium viewpoint keeps you in the black.

I use a Trijicon TA11C ACOG on an Armalite AR10A2 - an outstanding scope especially with mid range targets.  For longer range targets I use a Springfield 3rd Generation Gov't. on an AR10T. Couldn't ask for more performance from a scope.

I recently got the ATN 5X33L instead of the ACOG TA31.  The optics are clear and the reticle is etched into the glass. The ACOG looks better and was brighter but not enough to justify an additional $400. The ATN scope definitely falls into the "allota bang for a little buck" category.  The money that I saved allowed me to also get the 12.5 Reflex II from D-Ray and Sable Co..
