It's the most fun but the rifles left to me by my father are my favorites.
Puma 92, Henry .45 colt, then the garand. I enjoy my AR's but they are not my favorites.
I must admit my favorite rifle is my Sar-1 AK.
I have owned it about 3 years, I have never cleaned it or done anything other than fire it and it works everytime. I have other more expensive AKs and ARs, but that one is my favorite. |
My favorite is my CZ-452 SE. All my shooting buddies love it too. Great little rifle.
My M16A1-style AR is second for nostalgic/sentimental reasons. |
RWS 48. Cause it is deadly to small game and the ATF will never know...
I would say yes, the AR is my favorite, since I have so many of them. But, the 10/22 gets shot the most, just cause the price of ammo is so high for the AR.

I guess my favorite rifle ever was the LRB M14 SA I sold right before deploying to Iraq. I thought I'd get another one when I got back, and I did, but it was not up to the level of the first one and I sold it too (long story). Who knows, maybe another one is in the cards someday.
Next is the pristine H&R Garand and then my AR. |

Another vote for the US Rifle, Caliber .30, M1--Garand!
ETA: that might be because I don't actually have an AR |
I'm going to be the first to say my 10/22 is my favorite, because its just a blast to shoot, and hella accurate.
but my ar is a very close second |
And it would likely get MY vote as well if i owned one... M1's for the win! |
Nope, but pretty damn close. Favorite fighting rifle? Hell yes. If my ass was on the line, would it be #1. Can I get a hell yeah?
That Savage 10FP .223 over there is pretty damn sexy and my deer rifle is a great gun. Remington 700 in .270. This doesn't include family guns, because those are a no brainer. |
1. AR15
2. .22 Rifles- Mainly 10/22's (can shoot all day for $10) 3. Scoped long guns. Specifically Remington 700's 4. Other Battle Rifles. M1/FAL/M1a/AK47/SKS/GALIL etc... 5. Big Bore Lever Guns- Still don't own one, but they are a blast to shoot... |

M1 garand
Savage Mark II 22LR SKS/AK47 AR15 Yup AR's at the bottom of the list. I think of it as more of a toy really....I love the M1 for it's history and one of mine is made the same month and year as D-day, the other is a 1955 and looks about brand new (CMP Field Grade). The Savage is 2nd because it's fun and cheap to shoot, and pretty accurate to boot. the SKS and AK47 fall in 3rd because they're just so much fun to shoot and I actually enjoy them more so than the AR. AR's last because, while it's fun to shoot and all....It's almost to much of a toy. Granted if things went bump in the night I'd be grabbing that out of my gun cabinet in my closet. |
I love my M1A and both of my AR's, but I had the pleasure to shoot an M1 Garand at the range a month ago; my Gawd that is a sweet shooting rifle. I actually found it to have less percieved recoil than my M1A. With .30-06 surpluss going down a bit in price recently and 7.62x51 being all but impossible to find I may bite the bullet sometime this year and grab a CMP rack grade M1.

No. Not even close. I have one that I am building and I reckon it is a fun rifle to shoot, but hardly endearing. I was gifted the complete upper and since I already had reloading dies and such for 223, and at the time reloading components were insanely cheap, I decided to build it into a working rifle.
So, I can get semi auto trigger time for .09c per round with a weapon system that is inexpensive to maintain. If the 5.45 X 39 AR barrel project is a success, I will sell all of my 223 reloading components and build a 545 AR. .11c per round that I don't have to reload and can pick up the empties with a speaker magnet? Well...yeah. |
+1 to that ... closely followed by my ARs. |
Depending on the shooting I am doing.. AR is one of my favorites...
But sure as hell the best looking one of them all!!! |
Probably not. While I do have a new AR-15, odds are my fav with always be the AR-10.

Crap. Do I have to pick? The Tupperware Special Grandpa's M99 Savage NEF Sportster 17HMR H&R Buffalo Classic AR 15 ZM |
Yes. I do like my 10/22 too for its cheapness to shoot and fun factor
id have to say the AK i built(with help from a friend) would have to be my favorite.
For straight, plain shootin'....it is super hard to beat the Garand.
That being said I have a hard time putting down a good A1. I'll take both. |
Not even in my top 5.
The Garand will always be King of the hill. |
I'm kinda partial to my .300 Wtby and .375 RUM.... for various reasons!

No, my Romanian SAR 2 in 5.45X39 is. Best damn plinker ever built as far as I'm concerned.
+1 I actually thought I would not like the AR at all; however, I must say it has crept up past the 03 Springfield (as I am just not all that psyched about bolt rifles anymore), and I find myself toting it to the range more than my M1A (but you asked for favorites, not most used--plus I have 3 ARs and only one M1A). In the end, the Garand is king.
Depends on what sort of fight? If I am going to be mobile and working under 300 yards, then Hell Yeah. If I am fixed and working out past 300, M1A. |
