What a difference a few days make.

At last weekend's gunshow, many firearms were up for sale.  "I'm out of work."  "I need money."  "I don't know how to use this damn thing..."

I saw all sorts of specials and un-heard-of prices.  $600 for a Colt SP1.  $700 for a M1 Carbine folder...  $100 for a preban Tec-22.

Gun shows were full of stock.  The owners were commenting on the lack of funds coming in.  Specials were to be had, but no one was interested.....

Cut to today.

2/3 of the shop is sold.  All the ammunition shelves are empty; only a little odd-ball stuff and some crappy .308.  All of the .223 battlepacks are sold.  The $4.95 9mm is all gone.

Guns?  How does an average of 5 sold per hour sound?  On the day of the disaster, 25 hand guns were sold in slightly less than two hours!  (They couldn't even keep track of the long gun sales!)  They're selling more postban AR's (9mm, .223, and .308) in a day than they do in a typical week.

One memorable exchange:

Customer (C):  "I need a pistol."
Shopkeeper (S):  "We have both automatics and revolvers in stock."
C:  "What's the difference?"
S:
C:  "Umm, I'll take one of each."
S:  "What caliber?"
C:    "What's a caliber?"

But, to their credit, there was NO GOUGING.  Prices stayed where they were; no price increases but no "friend of the shop" discounts either.

Bottom line is that sales are way up.  Certain firearms are harder to find than others, but no danger of running out.  I also haven't noted any price increases as of late.

How's it in your neck of the woods?

Buddy of mine just got back from Seattle. A gun store in north Idaho that stocks several hundred long guns and the same in handguns was completely sold out. He had stopped in a few days before on his way out and things were normal.

I was at a local shop with an indoor range today doing some shooting. No increase in the Canton, Ohio area. Guns and ammunition are plentiful.

Stuff here in rural AZ is still on the shelves just like it was last week.  Of course everyone here (almost) already is heavily armed.

Central Missouri still has plenty of weapons and ammo...just picked up a case of .223 today along with a case of 20ga.

A gun shop near me had its biggest sales day ever!
One little old lady came in and bought $1400 of ammo.  45acp, 9mm, .223, 7.62 ect....   Then she bought 3 rifles as an "impulse" buy.  Her total bill was just over $3400!!!

The Gander Mountain store in N.Canton nearly sold out of ammo Tuesday night. I was in the Dick's Sporting goods store today and their shelves were well stocked. BTW they have UMC 9mm for $6.98/box of 50 - good ammo for a good price - my M9 likes the UMC stuff.

I think the question most of us are concerned with here is "Is she single?" [:)]  Many of us could use a sugar mamma.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!

THIS may knock some of those soccer moms in the head, and make them realize that gun ownership IS in the best interests of thier kids.

ANyway, I'd love to see US gun ownership go from 280 million to 300+ million.

Take that you facists over at HCI, etc.!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of guns and ammo, but handguns - are getting rare on the legal market in this area.  Also rotating strikes at our federal gun registry are delaying gun purchases.

Sold to a dealer at last week's gun show in Milwaukee, WI.  85-90% Colt SP1 with a metal lockable case and one dozen USGI 20's in various condition.

Yes, I almost cried when I heard how much he sold it all for.  [:(]

I went into a local gunshop tonight just to chat.  The man said that he's had to re-stock the Glock and Ruger shelves twice this week.  He's sold a few ARs and several shotguns as well.

The best way to counteract gun control is to buy guns.

As my wife, mom, and grandmother all say "The Million Armed Moms beat the Million Mom March any day."

Last weekend after my daughter's third birthday party I took my mom, grandmother and brother out to eat dinner with my family.  After dinner I was showing off my NRA membership card when my grandmother reaches into her back pocket, pulls out her wallet, and shows me her NRA membership card.  I was stunned.  Come to find out, my grandmother has been a member for almost 20 years now, and wants to purchase a Glock!  I sincerely love that woman. I live in West Houston, TX

My local gun shop said Tuesday and Wed. were absolutely crazy. The are sold out of post ban AR's, Ak's, etc,(bunch of prebans left though). I asked what the hottest selling item was. He said anything and everything, if he had to take a wild guess it would me shotguns. He also said Tuesday all the .223 and 7.62 were gone.

Things seem to be back to normal now. Even the gun show I went to today seemed no differnet than the others.

Just wait a few years until all of this settles down.  The gun buy-backs will begin with a fervor!  All of these "Panic Purchases" will be surrendered for the measly $50 that Uncle Sam is willing to shell out.

I wish I could sponsor a gun buyback program...[thinking]

The two shops I checked today were going crazy selling anything in .223, .308 and 9mm. Phones were ringing off the hook. Seemed like most of the customers were first-time buyers, because of some of the questions they were asking. Might be some converted anti's!
