The foreign minister of Chad, Mianzogo Thomas Altouzm, and two other
delegates from Chad were robbed at gunpoint in Kempton Park on Friday
night, police said on Saturday.
They were on their way home from the World Conference Against Racism in
Durban.
Inspector Nomsa Sekele of North Rand police said that the three had booked
into a Kempton Park hotel for one night before departing for their home
country.
They were dropped off at the Villa Pascalia at 8pm on Friday night. As
they were offloading their belongings, four men armed with handguns and a
rifle held up the victims and took their luggage and wallets.
Inside their luggage were their passports and airline tickets. The armed
men left without firing a shot. The value of the stolen goods was
estimated to be approximately R2 000. - Sapa
