Looking to build a relatively inexpensive "precision" rifle for target, varmint and general big game hunting applications.  I could go the route of rebuilding an 8mm Mauser such as a K98 or M48 with a new stock and scope.  I have thought about a .308 heavy barreled like a Savage 10FP.  I considered a Remington 700PSS in .308, but since I recently got engaged, that option is out.

Walked into one of my friend's shops today and he had a used Savage 110 in 7mm Rem Mag, synthetic stock, excellent condition.  Its got a trashco scope on it which I would dump.  He said I could have it for $300.

First question, is this a good price.?

Second question, how are these rifles in general?

Third question, tell me about the 7mm Rem Mag as I am pretty unfamiliar with this round though it seems pretty popular.

As far as Reno goes I think she is barking up the wrong tree.  She is probably looking at the election fiasco and thinking that Jeb is vulnerable.  To a good democrat, maybe he would be.  I don't think Reno is that candidate.

Janet suffers from too many negatives.  She was the puppet of Clinton and sacrificed any integrity she ever had to keep her job.  She will never live down Waco, Ruby Ridge, Elian, etc.  She suffers from Parkinsons that will only become more degenerative in time.

I have long said that the West Wing is a propoganda machine for the DNC, even though I love the show for its portrayal of the process and environment.  I think it is no coincidence that Sorkin gave Bartlett's character MS and the crux of the new season is him running for re-election with the message being a degenerative neurological disease should not prevent someone from holding high office.  I think the plan all along was to acclimate the nation to the idea to soften the beachead for Janet.

All in all, Bush carried Florida despite the shenanigans, and by a larger margin than is reported.  It will be an off election year when there is no presidential race which means turn-out is lower, especially from the hordes who live off of government largess.  I think Janet is pissing in the wind, its sad though, she is better endowed then I am...  Who isn't though?

Great girl, but her dad is a louse, and we're paying for the wedding.  So, every month I am faced with buying a new toy or adding to the wedding account.  In the past six months I have only bought three new guns.  Everything else I traded existing toys for...  I had a deal on a sweet 700PSS package with a shepher scope, but alas I couldn't part with the $1,000.  So I will look to put something together for less.  That's why I'm thinking a Savage 10FP in .308 with a Leupold or Nikon.
