So it started years ago when they no longer called it the Rose Bowl or Fiesta Bowl or whatever. It became the Goodyear Rose Bowl or whatever the hell it was. But now it's just gotten over the top. Almost every Bowl game has got a sponsor in the title (seems like it anyway) and the name of the Astrodome may be changing. The Astrohall has already changed to the Reliant Hall, named after the energy company. It's everywhere. They have even stuck Taco Bell stickers on the Russian elements of the International Space Station.

Sure it's funny now but just wait till it's called Tidy Bowl or that mountain thing gets changed to Mt. Suzuki Rushmore. Then you'll be laughing.

funny thing, no one in indianapolis (not quite sure about the stae) says "RCA dome" anyway.  it's just "the dome."  hee hee.  all that money for nothing.

Sometimes it bites them in the ass though. The Ravesn play at PSI Net Stadium. Last I heard, PSI Net is in big trouble if not already gone. I don't know what happens if they go under, but it's gonna cost some big bux to remove those huge purple signs on the stadium....

I find nothing objectionable about it.  What I dislike is that so many municipalities built stadiums with public money and left other critical infrastructure, such as water and sewer systems, to rot in the meantime.  I'd like to see more privatization all the way around.  The way to end the insipid "commercialism" is to create better educated consumers.

I'd love to see NASA, especially, go after more private sponsors.  The work they do is cool, but should tax dollars really go to pay for missions of such dubious importance?  How has the space station or the flubbed missiosn to Mars enriched our lives?

And in terms of NASCAR, I don't know about anyone else, but I suspect that the races are rigged.  My sources say Gordon could easily won at Bristol yesterday but that it would have sealed his points lead.  Who knows?
