I listen to mostly instrumental music, being as my main interest is Classical, Jazz, traditional American music and fingerstyle guitar playing.
I love Tony McManus, Doug Smith, John Renbourn, Pierre Bensusan, Andres Segovia, Alex Degrassi, Mingus, Monk, Miles Davis, William Ackerman, Howard Emerson, Martin Simpson, Blind Blake, Paul Geramia and on and on and on. As far as all time favorite instrumental pieces, I would probably put King Curtis's "The Games People Play" as one of my all time favorites. I would also say that Chopin's Nocturne in Eb Major, Opus# 9, # 2 is a favorite. |

(I think)The style of music you are referring to is called electronic music.
Check out Chemical Brothers. If you like that kind of beat, you might want to check out a CD series put out by Mark Farina called Mushroom Jazz. It is kinda jazzy trip-hop. There is alot of downtempo and trip-hop out there.... years worth. Maybe check out a guy called Aphrodite, or maybe S.A. Fred........... first guy you can find on CD to buy, second guy only has stuff online. Might be hard to find, but definetely worth it. |

I like the Metallica instrumentals: call of cthulu and orion mostly. Speaking of electronic music, the Fight Club soundtrack is pretty cool as well. I also like a lot of classical music. Stuff like Holst's the planets, 1812 overture, stars and stripes forever, and a lot of other random songs.

Serphim Shock. Misfits. Godsmack. Helmet. Pantera. Primus. Beastie Boys. Danzig. Marilyn Manson. Electric Hellfire Club. Lordi. Anything with a heavy driving beat, up tempo, and "fuck it all" lyrics. If it is the type of stuff you wouldn't want young, impressionable minds listening too... then it is probably on my play list. This morning, Motörhead's March or Die got me through my last set of squats without a hitch. |
