I'm thinking about putting some of the artificial buffalo horn ones on my "on the ranch" .45.  They are Plastic.

i got some ajax grips on my 1911, and i like them. i think they are MUCH cheaper if you get them from a gun show, plus you are able to see and feel them and/or match them up to your gun (if you bring it).
buying direct from ajax is more expensive, than the NIB grips that were for sale at a gun show, but the specific ones you want may not be available at the show.

www.ajaxgrips.com compare the prices here to the gun show prices.

Between guns I've built for my business in the past (custom CAS guns) and my own I've used literly hundreds of them. They are great grips. The people at Ajax, on the other hand, act as though they are doing you a favor by taking your money.

I have their ivory polymer grips on all three of my Ruger single actions and couldn't be happier. They fit, feel and look great.
