We were at a sporting goods store an hour ago, and when I saw the price tag
on this I told the guy I would take it.  I brought it home with me.
(Iowa lets you take handguns home the same day if you have a
current pistol purchase permit which is good for a year)

To be fair, I won't say what I paid until I get a few replies to this thread.
It is obviously used, and obviously a "safe queen".
I can't tell that it has ever been fired.  Even the magazine is mint.

If this was at a gun store, what would you consider to be an average price,
a fair price, and a great deal?

My wife is standing over my shoulder, so be nice.

Thanks!

$1800 would be an awesome deal

and in Arizona I can walk home with a pistol the moment I get done with the 4473, no stupid license required

First off, I'm no expert on the Delta Elite 10mm.  However, I did a little research for you.  I found a couple on another site.  They were going for around $1,200.  There was one where the asking price was only $745.  I'm guessing if you got it near the $745 price, you got a really good deal.  I'd say a fair price might be closer to $900.  Now remember, this is just my opinion.  YMMV.  I hope this helps a little.

BTW, you are eventually going to tell us what you got this one for, right?

In all honestly I would think they value would be around 800- 900 dollars but I am no Colt Expert Delta Elite is a good gun though.  Tell your wife what I tell mine.  I am a grown man I work a full time job and I can buy whatever I damn well please.  Then 3 hours later beg her to give you access to the bank account again.

I think even $1750 would be better.   Tell us you didn't pay more than $2000 for it and we will be

happy for you.

If you got it for less than $1750 than your wife should give pleasures tonight that I shall not

speak of on the computer, for it could end up in some twisted link to a porn sight.

Whats up with the finish?

Looks to either be polished or chromed?

Was it LNIB W/everything it should have or just a gun?

Details would help to give you a more accurate price check.

In any event if she doesnt like it I wuold give you $500 right now for it

I'm no pro on them, but I'd pay up to eight or nine hundred for one in that shape. Beautiful weapon.

Go easy on him Mrs Reaper, be glad you're not Mrs gorilla. There's a reason she doesn't know the combo to the gun safe!  To her, I have 2 pistols, the "shiny one" and the "black one."

Thats a real beauty. Congrats!

I don't know what it's worth, exactly...
First, it's a Colt. That alone brings a premium.
Second, what i've seen in the $400-$500 range, does not come close.
Thats no Glock.

I'd be inclined to think that $800 would be a real good price.
I'd expect to see them for at least $1200, if I could find any at all, here locally.

I have never seen one, but then, I'm really not into handguns.
That sure is a beauty though! Wise investment I think.

What you see in the photo is what I brought home with me.

No box, one magazine.

It is polished stainless.

My wife wasn't contesting the purchase.  In fact, when I saw it
I said "damn, look at that.  That is a great price!".
She literally said "well then, get it".

So I hope you will let me keep my Man Card.

My wife was cool with the purchase, but I think she thought
I was BS'ing her about the "great deal" I said it was.

Hell, she let me buy an AR-50 last  year.
I can't think of a more impractical toy than that.

Receipt is coming in just a second.

I don't know why they entered it in as a "trade in shotgun".
Except that the original owner traded it in on a shotgun.

Model #02021 Ultimate Stainless Elite. Anything less then a grand and you did good in that condition. Not all that many made in Ultimate SS. and 10mm. Grats on a great buy! And that is not a gold cup, Gold Cups in 10mm came in matte SS or blue, and would have had an adjustable rear sights. Thats a sweet pistol and your wife should be nibblin on your neck about now telling you that as a hunter/gatherer you done GOOD! [INFO out of Colt Catalog]

Nice pistol. Bright stainless (pimp gun ) brings a premium.

You did pretty good. I saw a blued enhanced delta for $500 at a local show last year. That was tempting.

They didn't have any used Glocks for less than $500.

Springfield Illinois gun show this past September (?) a guy had
NEW glocks of all flavors for less than $400.

I was VERY upset that I was broke.

I have a Gold Cup .45 in that finish and it is a damn fine pistol, you don't see all that many around with the Ultimate Finish. Takes a heck of a lot of polishing to get to that point.

It's a Colt 1911 in an unproven caliber.

If your wife calls from the jewelry store, your only possible answer is, "Of Course Dear, that sounds like a smokin' deal.  Pick up some ammo on the way home."

Unproven? You mean like the 40S&W is unproven?
