I hope this isn't a dupe, I did a search to no avail so I'll post it anyway. This really pisses me off.

Germany paroles terrorist after 19-year term
Hamadi was jailed for hijacking TWA jet, killing a U.S. Navy diver

BERLIN - German authorities have paroled convicted terrorist Mohammed Ali Hamadi after he served 19 years of a life sentence for the 1985 hijacking of a TWA jetliner and the killing of a U.S. Navy diver, a law enforcement official said Tuesday.

Hamadi has been released from prison and has left Germany, said Doris Moeller-Scheu, a spokeswoman for the Frankfurt prosecutor's office. She said she did not know his destination.

She said Hamadi's case came up for a regular legally mandated review by a parole court and he was released from a prison in Schwalmstadt in southwestern Germany after an expert assessment and a hearing.

TWA flight 847 from Athens to Rome was hijacked on June 14, 1985, to Beirut, where the hijackers shot U.S. Navy diver Robert Dean Stethem, 23, of Waldorf, Maryland, and dumped his body on the tarmac.

Witnesses later identified Hamadi as having beaten the tied-up Stethem and the plane's flight engineer later testified at the 1989 trial that Hamadi bragged he had killed the diver.

Stethem's parents later sued Iran in U.S. federal courts, saying that Iran had given support to the hijackers, believed to be from the Hezbollah group.

No current U.S. extradition request
German federal officials declined to comment extensively and said the case was a matter for state authorities. Justice Ministry spokeswoman Eva Schmierer said Germany did not have any request from the United States for Hamadi's extradition.

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Martin Jaeger, said there was no connection between his release and that of Susanne Osthoff, a German woman released at the weekend after spending more than three weeks as a hostage in Iraq.

Stethem, 23, was severely beaten during the hijacking and shot on June 15, while the plane was in Beirut.

He was the only fatality during the ordeal, in which 39 Americans were held hostage for 17 days. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart decorations posthumously, and a U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer is named in his honor.

Hamadi was arrested at the Frankfurt airport on Jan. 13, 1987, when customs officials discovered liquid explosives in his luggage.

U.S. authorities had requested his extradition so he could stand trial in the United States, but the Germans, who have no death penalty, insisted on prosecuting Hamadi.

Shit I remember when that happened.  Summer in my mom's apartment, those assholes with bags on their heads throwing bodies onto the runway. Perfect timing Germany with Spielberg's movie coming out.

The enlightened Europeans are letting another killer go, they love doing that then scold us over the death penalty.  I just dont get it.  Do they really get any sense of satisfaction in doing this?

A terrorist named Mohammed what are the odds?

I doubt very seriously that scumbag has been "rehabilitated" or feels sorry in any way about what he did. I'm sure he has been sitting in prison this entire time plotting about what he's going to do next.

I remember quite well when the hijacking was going on. They beat that poor guy so bad his mother wouldn't have recognized him. He may have gotten out of prison, but hell is still waiting for him.

They can bitch about Tookie all they want but that SOB won't be causing any more trouble.  I bet we see this guy, or his handiwork, again thanks to Germany's idea of a life sentence.

As long as it spites us, or better yet results in more American dead, yes.  They do indeed delight in it.

Holy shit! The guy hijacks a plane, murders a member of the US Military, holds hostages for 17 days, then is caught sneaking liquid explosives into a German airport (no doubt to blow up a PLANE load of people or hijack another airplane) and they let the fucking guy go after 20 years?

Wow... just wow.

I doubt he's going to be doing any terrorism, the world's so different today.  But if the Germans were going to refuse to extradite a killer because of the death penalty, they should have at least had the decency and justice for the victim to incarcerate the killer for life.

I wonder if this is simply a coincidence with the Tookie business, or if this is a really pissy message.

As a NATO member, you would think they would show a little more respect for one of our soldiers and keep the piece of sh*t in the clink for life.

I hope some wetworks are being planned...

I heard he was released at about the same time a german hostage was released by the terrorists in Iraq.

Coincidence, I think not.

Bingo.  And they will lie about it because that is what is considered the smart thing to do among most of the educated set in postwar Western Europe.  Pay off people and lie.

This is one of those "cultural differences" that makes multiculturalism such a crock, and look here -- both parties are nominally white and Christian so you can focus on the differences without distraction!  We are obsessed with freedom and justice, they are obsessed with tax evasion and anal sex.

Ohhhhhh, I guess I was being a little solipsistic thinking it was over Tookie and the death penalty.  They 're appeasing terrorists again.  I wonder what other parts of German history we're going to relive?

How many years does the average person convicted of a single murder in about 1989 spend in jail in the US? Including parole options.

I'm not convinced he wouldn't already be out in the US either.

NTM

In most states with the death penalty the fact he had premeditated the murder and hijacked an airplane would have landed him on death row. In Texas, he would have been put in the speed line.

My hope and prayer is he ends up on one of those planes supposedly chartered by the USN to some hell hole in Africa.

WTF???

What I mean is, when was the last time you heard of Hezbollah hijacking planes and carrying out terrorism outside of Lebanon?  That's what I mean.  Their civil war is over, Israel is out, and now Hezbollah has some sort of quasi-state in southern Lebanon. The PLO's gone, they've gone "legit" and get international recognition since Oslo.  Even Syria's gone, they pulled out of Lebanon.  The situation's almost unrecognizable from 1985-6.  How would this dude fit into it?
