I have a Pekingese that was given to me from a lady who was suffering from cancer. The dog is a character but dumb as box of rocks.

I have a Black Lab, he's great with the kids and brings back just about anything I send him after. I just wish he didn't fart so much.

Long-haired akita. Why? Found her in a dumpster when she was a couple months old.

WTF are you talking about you worthless piece of crap. I can see this thread turning into a complete pissing match. 15-20 pages at least. I have owned Labrador Retrievers for the past 20 years because THEY are the best dogs on the planet. I've had my nieces pulling on her tail. Jumping on her like she was a horse and she just turns arounds and looks at them like -- WTF? There are good and bad aspects of all breeds but I've found that, overall, the Lab is the best breed. ETA: SPECTRE that is a beautiful pup you got there. |

I had a dog but I lost it in a bizarre shark trolling incident.
Oh wait......... That was the other thread... |

Scottish terrier; my family has always had them.
Too bad ours is about to bite the dust. |

Black Lab for duck, Yellow Lab for pheasant and a Boxer because we LOVE Boxers!

I have an akita. I got her because she looked like an ewok when she was a puppy and I couldn't resist. She is the perfect dog, except she sheds hundreds of pounds of fur every month.

|
Yellow lab.
Great with kids. Just pulled 5 ducks out of Alaskan water this morning. Nuff said. |
|
Poodle - the wife wanted one. Beagles - i got two.
The poodle is very intelligent but cranky. The beagles are kinda "duhh", but very lovable and cute! |

Mutt
Figger she's lab and something else. 55 pounds or so, sheds like leaves in fall, but good with kids (babies) and pretty damn smart. Her name is Mauli. 'cept for: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=43&t=206186 |

I'm going to pick up a purebred GSD (German Shepherd) puppy in about a week.

English Springer. Crazy, active, fun-loving, loyal, protective, smart, trainable, and friendly. Too big to step on and small enough to pick up. Not intimidating to anyone 99% of the time, but raise a hand against someone he cares about and you WILL be wearing a 53 pound chainsaw. Believe that. Mine almost ate the arm off an idiot that tried to snatch our cleaning lady's purse. 'Twas a bad day for purse snatching. The only down side is the shedding and, to be honest, some people think a certain intimidation factor is good. I'm not one of them (for dogs, at least) but, to each his own. And they are pure-breds ... if you "work/play" 'em every day, they're OK. If you don't, you'd be amazed at some of the "projects" they can give themselves. Anyway...Is this a great country or what? You get to choose.
Stay safe |

Best feeling in the world picking out the GSD pup!! I vote GSD as well...ours damn near speaks english. Give him any command in any format and he understands perfectly. Keeps the kids in the yard, knows his boundaries, and doesn't beg for food.I've had labs (love em), goldens (nice...but generally breathing furniture) and the GSD wins hands down. Plus...ain't nobody comin into the house without permission...especially when the trademark wolf ears pop up and you see that imposing shadow in the window accompanied by the glass rattling bark. Nice Boxers, Dickhead. Our female Boxer is 8 and starting to get a little gimpy. Still likes her playtime with her 2 Newfies, though. They really are great dogs.

I had a cockapoo growing up. Everyone here knows I have German Shorthaired Pointers. I own them because they're the most versatile hunting dogs ever and they're awesome pets. |

See avatar.
Black labs are wonderful companions. Very smart, very loyal and great with the family. Best pet I ever had. I had a dalmations before him, and 2 collie/malamute mixes. All were good dogs, but comparitively were pains in the ass. Dalmations are stubborn as hell, and alot of health problems. The collie/mute mixes were better but hard to train and still more "wolf" than "dog". Killed everything, rolled in shit, you get the idea. |

My brothers English Springer, his name is Pike. The other little bastard is my Pal Jug when he was about 8 weeks old. He's a Brittany Spanial
I don't think there is a better pointer or upland bird dog than the GSP (English Pointers are right up there) but I have to disagree on the description "Most Versitile" and give that crown to the Brittany Spanial. Pointing, retrieving any bird it can carry including ducks, and Rabbits. They also make better house pals and (Now this is a matter of personal preference) They range closer, which works out well for my tired legs. Another picture of Jug when he was about 8 months. He still thinks he's a lap dog and he'll sleep like this any chance he gets. |
