Something just seems terribly sad about this. No way in the world Ashton Kutcher can live up to Bruce Cambell's performance.

Hadn't it already been remade, as Evil Dead II?

Honestly, Bruce Campbell isn't even in a grave to be spinning in.

Let him play Ash once again.
Call it
Evil Dead III

You guys, he's a natural.  After all, his first name is Ash.

Seriously, why doesn't Raimi just make another Evil Dead movie starring Bruce Campbell and just make an easy $100m?  Evil Dead fans would rightly refuse to see a remake starring Ashton Kucher and only view pirated versions, on principle. Who is Raimi attempting to appeal to here?

Hang on a tick, where does it say Ashton is going to be Ash?
It just says he's in it.

And Sam Raimi is writing it, Bruce will certainly have at least a cameo, I'll still go see it.

Well, it was actually called Army of Darkness.

Army of Darkness, was just Army of Darkness, Evil Dead III is still available, no?

Looks like Bruce Cambell is involved in the remake.

www.dtheatre.com/read.php?sid=2831

Director Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man") and Bruce Campbell ("Evil Dead" films) are teaming to produce a remake of "Evil Dead," the film that launched both of their careers, reports Variety.  The new "Dead" will be produced through Raimi's Ghost House Pictures, the company that brought us the U.S. version of "The Grudge."

Raimi will not direct the remake, according to the article, but he and Campbell will be integral in bringing the 1981 cult hit back to the big screen.  The production team will begin working on a script as soon as they find the right director.

There is no word on whether Campbell will reprise his role as Ash, the cult anti-hero he went on to play in two sequels--"Evil Dead 2" and "Army of Darkness."  "Evil Dead 2" was more like a remake/sequel of the original, which added to and changed enough to make both films individually relevant.  This new film would be yet another remake of "Evil Dead" and maybe without the director and actor whose unique abilities made both films work to begin with.

Would Ashton Kutcher fans go see an Evil Dead movie without Ashton Kutcher in it?
Are there that many Evil Dead fans that it'd make a $100M?
How much did Army of Darkness take in?

Army of Darkness follows Evil Dead II.  It has been called Evil Dead III by many of it's followers since it came out.

Ok so... the original is a cult hit adored by fat nerds that stars one of the worst actors ever. The remake stars a meathead adored by teenage girls who's one of the worst actors ever. Who cares? Oh right, hehe... obviously the aforementioned fat nerds.

First, Hollywood ruins Dawn of the Dead and now they are going to blaspheme even further by remaking Evil Dead?

When will it end?  Why are there no more original ideas in Hollywood?

Sam Raimi is the writer on this one.
How can you blame Hollywood when it's the creator doing the remake?

He's listed as the producer.
He makes tons of cameos in Sam Raimi directed films.
Yeah, he probably won't be in this one.
