After the last major change it takes forever for the text to load, even longer if you are replying to a topic.
Sometimes I just hit the "stop" button on the browser so I can post. Now the forum is putting up that "can't find" page when I reply, and when it does reply it never comes through or shows up on "my topics" even though I get that warning about "XX seconds before you can post again". Fix this shit. Please. ARRRGHHH!!! THREE FUCKING TIMES TO GET THIS POSTED!!!!! |

Slower to load for me too.
The time it took to type the first 10 words was all lines instead of letters waiting for it to download. |
Dont worry is just the monitoring program archiving what you doing. nothing to see here move along, move along...

Tin jimmy hat.... |

Yep, that's the problem I have many times. I can get a reply typed out before the page is fully loaded. Then I have to go back an correct punctuation/spelling. This time the page loaded instantly. |

+2 Snappy speedy here for me on 1.5Mbit Cable |

add me to the list.... |

Same thing I've been experiencing. In fact I got to "been" before the letters showed up. |

No problem here.
Try dumping MS explorer and using Mozilla Firefox. |

Usually I just hit the stop button, rather than wait for all of the banners/buttons to appear. You can still click on the area where the button is to go to another part of AR15.com
I have to scroll over to the right to see the industry & E.E. button. It used to not be like that. Using a 800X600 screen here. The lite version is damn plain so I don't use it. I'm on dial-up. Edit: When I click out of IE (you know, the "X" in the top right corner) the little box for AR15.com stays in the toolbar below for about 4 seconds. It's not a problem, but it's kinda weird. Only this site does that. Scott |

I'm on Firefox. Me four. For a couple three weeks now. |

I thought it was just me noticing a recent slowdown. It started affecting me a couple of weeks ago, and I started looking for viruses on my computer.. after finding none, I started surfing other sites to see if there was a noticeable difference, and there is.Glad I'm not the only one.

I've the problem a while with Firefox. Reloads take forever too, and it's only this site for some reason.
I've been having some computer problems here as well. Most of mine happen after a windoze critical update. Then I have to go back and reinstall direct-x and stuff.

The code to run the POST REPLY box is getting more feature-heavy, (making it have more lines of code to load when you pull up the screen), making it take longer to load than it did before, on systems with slower internet connections. |
I had the same vertical bar and slow loading problem with the "reply box" after the upgrade and it went away when I upgraded to Firefox 1.0.6. I also made some changes to the pop-up filter settings in Zone Alarm around the same time frame so that could have been part of it too. It isn't the Arfcom servers or we would all be having the problem now. Make sure you have all the Windows updates installed, upgrade your Firefox and then start turning stuff off and trying it until you find what is interfering.

I have a super fast Internet connection. There is something definitely wrong with the site. The ARFCOM router is still throwing out invalid packets. This is the only site that I have any problems with.

Well, there is the source of a lot of your problems. Get yourself a decent browser -- spend a few minutes downloading FireFox and you will wonder how you ever lived before. On the contract I am working on at the moment, the corporate browser is IE, and the computers are sewn up tight, so you can't load your own -- after a few weeks of using IE I am just so appalled that people can actualy use a POS like that. Its so frustrating ... Go get FireFox. |

I get the smae thing every once in a while. |

Filling in the text box is a local action - entirely the browser, has nothing to do with Internet speed.

+2 bigtime |

+whatever on the no problems here
this site is one of the fastest forums I post at |

The Halliburton hurricane machine is malfunctioning. It is affecting the 'net.
Or it's just you. I think it's the latter. |
Yeah, seems like just the last couple of weeks or so? I've certainly noticed problems. so... +1?! |
That is great...so why is it that since the software upgrade many of us are having the exact same problem locally? |
Java scripts etc. have to be loaded from the ARFCOM server. Server side or network issues will have an effect on rendering the posting window. |
Use Firefox.
Same smell.
I have a fast DSL connection.
This has only started happening since after the last major upgrade. No other sites do this. It happens with Firefox too.
I'm having the same exact problem |
Same problem here. And you are right. It started the night of the update. I thought it was just me! The text box opens but just shows lines flashing while I'm typing for the first 10 seconds or so. Takes forever to load up the emoticons. Not sure why??? |
