I read the book.It wasnt bad,and it did paint a realistic picture of life in the USMC.
But I have heard that Swafford really leans toward the left and has been showing his dislike for current war etc.

I'll give you a free preview, assuming the movie is anything like the book.
The main character is a whining pussy who, despite being a Marine sniper, is a huge shitbird. He tells military urban legends as if they happened to him, which he probably thought he could get away with since noone who has been in the Marines would read that piece of shit cover to cover. He brags about doing all kinds of wonderful things, like putting a gun to another Marine's head, and seems to feel traumatized even though his combat experience, if he has any, is minor. I don't recall him saying anything about actually fighting. I'm going to go out on a limb and sum his movie and book up in three words. Fucking liberal bullshit. |

Yeah, I'll probably pass. FMJ is about the only realistic movie about the 'Corps.

IIRC, he never fired a shot in anger, but have a close encounter with a booby-trap. Might be good gun porn.

Looks like a movie where a young kid bites off way more than he can chew and his world falls apart around him.

I read two chapters and gave the book to someone so they wouldn't BUY another copy
they didnt like it either and they gave it to somone else I'm proud to say We stopped to purchases |

Joker's review seems to sum it up completely when I read it. I did find stirring shit with a pole and diesel fuel humorous however.

If the movie has a soundtrack like the preview it'll be trash. Good lord... that's probably the worst music I've ever heard for a Marine/War movie. Amazing how music can make something look so bad. if they had some sort of amped up action music it might have made it look better somehow.
I'll wait for some reviews on here before I plunk down the money. No doubt someone around here will see it and review it for us. |

Don't go to see it expecting much action either. The book might as well be titled "I spent my late teenage angst years in the Marines".

Yesterday Rush listed ten Left Wing anti American movies that will be released soon. This was one of them.
I love military movies but I will pass on this one. If I want to hear military basing i will just tune into Al Franken on the raido or something. |

Joker hit the nail on the head......The book sucked and was full of nothing but garbage. How he even managed to fill that many pages of his book with barely any combat experiences defies belief... |
