Uh, I said all that? Sorry, but I checked my liberal psychobabble mentality at the door--along with my "feminine side."

No, I am just asking where you stand on the Government taking the steps they do in the name of the "War".
I don't think of myself as Liberal. I've never voted Democrat but occasionally I do pee sitting down. It's very refreshing, you ought to try it and get in touch with your "feminine side" big fella
LOL I do not see continuously choosing to ingest poisonous chemicals to be a "disease."

Are you so sure it is by choice? Know any power drinkers? Know any smokers?
It is a series of self destructive choices. For that, I would brand him a waste of humanity. I would not, however, violate the Constitution in the name of fighting some bs "drug war." This is the only thing I disagree with President Reagan on. When drug use causes hazards to the public it should be dealt with via the legal system, IMHO.

Can you provide any info to suggest that any type of prohibition has worked to correct or cease negative behaviour?
As long as we have the drug laws on the books, they must be enforced, especially on someone as stupid as Downey, who doesn't seem to make a pretense of keeping his illegal acitivies private.

It seems as though he can't help himself. He's already done time but yet he can't seem to keep himself straight. I don't see how putting him in jail will help him or society. Treatment and research instead of funding more jails to house the front line losers in the "War".
Militarization of civilian law enforcement is another result of the "War". The Police *do* need to be as well armed as drug dealers but why do we continue to make it such a lucrative endeavor? What happened to the illicit alcohol trade after the Volstead act was repealed?[:)]
