It's more than that.  It's a nice assortment of weapons, mags, and ammo.

There's a 226 on the back wall and a 239 Nickle laying on its side on the top shelf.

You know, funny you should say that.  I'm doing that right now.  Never used to store the mags loaded.  I know it won't hurt them.   [shrugs]

Someone needs to teach you boys how to pack a safe

they'll only all fit in a certain order...it can be irratating if I take more than 2 or 3 out and can't remember what that is

Dumb question:

Is it safe to store ammo in a safe?  If there is a fire will the safe keep the ammo from "cooking off"?

Follow-up to this one as well....
I thought conventional wisdom said you didn't keep ammo in safes.  Something about taking up too much room for guns.

Ammo doesn't "cook off", despite what you see in hollyweird movies.

It depends on the fire rating of the safe, and how long it takes for the FD to respond.

THIS safe has a 1500 degree rating for ONE hour.  And yes, it cost me dearly.

Don't worry though, I have plenty of ammo that's not stored in the safe.

Hey now. Whatchu got going on with that door? That looks pretty cool / functional.

That's my New England Firearms Sporter...I bought it in .17hmr, and then sent away for the .22lr and .22mag barrels.  The 17 shoots great, the .22 mag is about on par with my Marlin bolt 22 mag, but the .22lr is terrible, unfortunately.  The extra barrels were like $50 a piece, so the whole rig was about $250 if you factor in the shipping...you have to send the receiver to the factory so they can fit the barrels/do the headspacing.

I've actually really enjoyed the single shot...I was worried that it would be a drag, but so far I've had a lot of fun with it.  First time out with the .17 it shot about an 1" for 5 shot groups at 100 yards, and it was pretty windy that day.
