So it's simply a reservoir which fills with gases and expels them towards the muzzle, pushing all remaining gases/particles out of the bore, and it is not powered by anything. Is that right?

I always thought that thingy was a sleeve that you could use to pick the barrel up with and not burn your hand.

Thermal Sleeves and Bore Evacuators are of course entirely different things.

Just to confuse matters, some people call bore evacuators fume extractors. Other tanks don't use them at all, and rely on compressed air.

It's like an M-4 BBL in reverse, you can mount a m203 under it for indirect fire.
