The Florida Defensive Carbine Club has been meeting for just over a year now and we are having our one year anniversary and we'll be putting on a fun time for all. This is a 100% free event. No cost to enter, no range fees, just come out. Nothing to win except props, nothing to lose except face. If you agree to the 4 main safety rules, you are invited. Here's the deal:
When: Sunday, July 29th at 9am.
Where: Free Osceola Gun Range off hwy 90 in Lake City, FL
What: 9am we'll start out with our normal competiton. We run realistic type drills and emphasize the use of defensive tactics and combat accuracy over speed or pin point precision. We run two drills and then pair off shooters with similar average times. Those two shooters will participate in a side by side speed shoot. First shooter to shoot their targets moves on to the next level. Loser sits down and enjoys the view.
After we're done with the competition around noon, the range will open up for social shooting and fun. We'll also be firing up the 55 gal BBQ for lunch. There will be plenty of food and drinks (sorry no alcohol) which will be for sale. There will also be a mini gun gear sale. If you have stuff to unload, bring it on out. If you sell something, please consider making a totally non-compulsory donation to the club. We're putting this on as sort of a fund raiser to buy a timer and some steel targets. That's where the money from the food will go.
If you want to come, all you need to bring for the competition is your centerfire rifle or carbine (AR, AK, FAL, M14, G3, Mini14, SKS, whatever...) about 100 rounds and 2 mags. Everything else is optional. Some folks shoot 100% stock firearms, some use totally tricked out ones. Sights, lights, slings and things are optional.
Come and check it out, if for only this once. Even if you dont want to compete, stop by and watch. Last meet we had nearly as many observers as shooters. And we all have fun. Be there or be left out. If you plan to go keep posting here to keep this towards the top.
