Hey DVD,
Where did you get that thing and how much? I've been wanting to get one for fun and history's sake. They are talking about it on History channel as I type. The IAI got a good write up in one of the gun rags. Let me know how it shoots. Thanks. |

He got it at the last cow palace gun show. It's an IMI M1 Carbine, came with 3 mags. Looked nice, I was the proverbial Devil on his shoulder.....get it....get it....you know you want one..... He broke down after remembering how much they screw us for parking and entrance fees [:)]. It was a pleasing sight. |

Picked it up at a gun show at the Cow Palace (San Fran). $499 from Jackson Arms in South SF.
Haven't messed with it much yet. I'll let you know how it shoots. Should be going to the range Sunday. There's a Garand from CMP on the way to keep it company in the safe. [:)] |

Trigger must be pretty bad judgin' by the way it's wire tied! Seriously, M1 carbines are a great amount of fun to shoot. They were REAL cheap when I was younger.(So were Jeeps and Mustangs) I wish I held on to one! I'd like to hear hoh the IAI compares to an original.

Looks great! Some observations: Go to a fabric store and buy a box of Brass snaps like the one on the back of the mag pouch. Snap a Female Snap (the round button-looking one) over the Male snap on the pouch. It will prevent the Male snap from gouging the hell out of the stock. Is this new production, and therefore a Post-Ban? If it's not a post-ban, consider installing a bayonet lug. Choate makes a nice flash suppressor that installs easily (if Pre-Ban). Bayonet mounting is precluded, though. Get Scott Duff's Carbine Owner's guide book. This book is a MUST! (Fulton Armory) Initial zeroing of the Carbine is peculiar, because you start with a new, high blade on the front sight, and file it down gradually to establish initial elevation zero. Please, get Duff's book, you will thank me (and especially him). Good luck!
