OPPOSE UN GUN BURNING!

This Monday, July 9, the United Nations is promoting the burning of
firearms in order to highlight the opening of the UN Conference on Illicit
Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons.  See
http://www.iansa.org/calendar/2001/ngo/index.htm and
http://www.un.org/Depts/dda/CAB/smallarms/about.htm

The United Nations is the world's largest and most vocal supporter of
universal civilian disarmament.  The UN believes that only military and
police forces should have access to firearms.  Thus, when the UN talks
about "illegal" weapons, it doesn't mean disarming violent criminals - it
means disarming YOU.

Tragically, governments murder far more people than do criminals.  About
170 million people died at the hands of murderous governments just during
the last century.   Government murder is known as "democide".  For more
information see http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/

For more on the UN gun burning, see http://www.jpfo.org/alert20010525.htm

If you have a fast internet connection, or a lot of patience, there's also
a great FLASH presentation at http://www.teesdale.com/stop_un_1.html

It's especially insulting that the United Nations is holding this event on
American soil on the 225th anniversary of our Declaration of
Independence.  After all, they could have held the conference in a "more
enlightened", "gun-free" nation like, for example, Mali - one of the four
nations that initiated the call for gun burning.

Here's the latest alert, dated 6/29/01, from the State Department on Mali:
"The Department of State urges U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Mali
to avoid all non-essential road travel in the region surrounding Timbuktu,
Gao, and Kidal until further notice due to increased criminal activity by
armed groups in
Northern Mali. In recent months, groups of foreign travelers have been
robbed in this area and, in one incident, the bandits asked the victims if
there were any Americans in their group. The robbers seem particularly
interested in
stealing vehicles."

It is important that we let the United Nations know that we do not
appreciate their attempts to make the world safer for tyranny - and
especially that we let our elected officials know that we expect them to do
everything in their power to  stop the United Nations.

What YOU can do:

1. Write to IANSA, the International Action Network on Small Arms.  Email
to [email protected].  UTGOA also suggests that you write to two major
sponsors: Oxfam, [email protected]
Amnesty International, [email protected] and [email protected]

2. Write to the United Nations, [email protected]

3. Use UN targets for recreational
shooting.  http://128.241.245.13/zox/target.gif and
http://128.241.245.13/zox/targetbw.gif
We do NOT recommend sending these to the UN, since the UN has already
stated that it considers even polite letters to be "security threats".

4. Contact the following people and let them know that you expect them to
oppose all UN attempts to promote disarmament and that you expect them to
support Rep. Ron Paul's HR 1146, the American Sovereignty Restoration Act
of 2001 - which would end all US participation in the United Nations.

5. Buy a gun!  The more guns owned by civilians, the more difficult it will
be to disarm us.  And besides, do you really need an excuse to buy a gun?
;-)
Patriot Arms, 7650 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, is even offering a
10% discount on all firearms purchased July 9.

6. Patriot Arms, in conjunction with the Utah Freedom Association and the
Libertarian Party of Salt Lake County, is also sponsoring a UN flag burning
at 6 PM on Monday July 9 at the address above.  (However, due to current
fire conditions, we don't know if they'll actually be able to burn the
flags.)

7. Educate your friends and family about the UN.  Many people suffer from
the mistaken idea that the UN is some sort of humanitarian organization
that takes care of starving children.  The truth is that the UN is a
socialist organization dedicated to destroying ALL of our individual rights
- property rights, parental rights, free speech, - and of course gun
rights.  One easy way to educate people is to share JPFO's Gran'pa Jack
booklet "The United Nations is Killing Your Freedoms!"  To get copies, see

Gentlemen,

I am very busy preparing for the conference as we speak. But I felt that I should take the time to respond to this.

Symbolic gestures, while in the right hands, with the proper media coverage, can be quite effective at shaping public opinion.

You, however, as a group, do not possess the resources or organizational skills to turn public opinion in your favor.

Many think that the National Rifle Association is their saviour. While, admittedly, they do have some influence in Washington D.C., they possess none on the world stage.

The more ammunition and barrels that you "burn", the less we at the United Nations have to worry about.

We are doing it for the children.

Thank you.

Instead of buying a gun on the 9th, I'm thinking of selling my HK91 at the best possible price then buying THREE more guns with the proceeds.  I still have my AR with lots of ammo and mags.

UN=UNconstitutional.
