I'm confused, I thought both of Captain Obvious's accounts had been locked earlier? It then posts an apology and when people come down on him for his past behavior, he requests the thread to be locked. What's up with that?

I requested the thread to be locked only becasue the purpose of the thread was for people to have a link to my apology. Actually the propose of this thread is to continue holding you up to public ridicule. A behavior adjust tool I find much more effective then banishment in some cases.mmk
|
|
Here's what it boils down to:
Were this a General Discussion topic, people would still be angry and offended - yes - but it would have been a perfect way to show how a fouled-up dealer can pull off a scam on all of us AR.com guys. It would have been enlightening and justifiable, as no real "crime" would have been commited at all. However, it wasn't a GD - it was an EqEx. Our EqEx is the "business" portion, for lack of better terminology, of this fine site. All of the other forums are for advice, questions, comments, rants and raves, bitching, moaning, and learning - but the EqEx is a true area of commerce that should not be taken lightly or disrespected. Capt, what you did was not intrinsically bad, and I admire the fact that you won't back down from that opinion. However, the main injustice that was served was the PLACE of the post, not the CONTENT of it. If you made a quick, but sincere apology for doing the wrong thing in the wrong place, then I think people would overlook the incident, and it would enforce the idea that the EqEx, which I've used on 2 or 3 occasions, is tolerant of only professional, non-fraudulant behavior. Ya F'ked up, you made an error in judgement - we all do sometimes...now you pay your one-time-installment "Idiot Tax" and apologize for the place the post was made, understanding that it has its own set of rules. Simple as that. We all in agreement? It hurts being this good...probably because I'm Eee-vil |

Regarding last night’s thread, it was intended to be a joke. However, I do apologize to those of you who I angered, or who feel “cheated”. Just so you know, I purposely said my email account was disabled for the sole reason that you, the buyer would not send me any personal information. That should count for something. I also think last night’s thread brought several things into perspective. Like how easy it would be for a real scam artist to rip you off. We can all learn from this. For those of you who wish to ban me (DavidXX??), if you can get 50 people on these forums who wish me to leave, I will delete my account, and not sign up for any new ones. Best wishes, Captain Obvious [ Edited By CAPTAIN OBVIOUS on 7/7/2001 2:38:47 PM ] |

In a post of favorite handguns or next handgun to purchase, etc. just recently? If that is the case, then the bullet, which is .355 would have a heck of a time making a .25 hole, right? |
|
Not at all. As a matter of fact, it's possible to have a group size SMALLER than the diameter of the bullet, since you are measuring center-to-center, not edge-to-edge. Theoretically, the smallest group size would be zero.
|
|
Gentlemen-
Read the post closely, he does not say groups...he says holes. A single 9MM hole is larger than .25. It's first on page 2 of TAC-GIRL'S "Thinking about a new duty weapon" post. Besides, I'm not hammering him, I'm just pulling his chain. We all make these type of goofs from time to time... [X] Just like I can't spell goofs and it comes out as goffs |

Jewbronis veracity is not in question here, Captain Underpants's is. He says it was just a joke, but somehow, with the feeble excuse for an apology, I get a funny feeling in my stomach that it might have been something else going on.

Beachboy, I cleared it up saying, that after measuring, I probably was shooting MOA, not SUB-MOA shots (only 2 shots, not "groups" or anything...that would be unreal).
And you count the distance between the middle of the bullets. So 1/2 the diameter of the .40cal bullet would be about 1/5 of an inch. The next bullet's diameter would be well inside that of the previous, making the holes look like a Figure-8. If I had to make a reading, then they would probably be close to .33" apart, and not <.25" as I stated. I apologize for that, but nonetheles...I've made some DAMN CLOSE SHOTS! I was definately shooting MOA at 25yards, but I'll admit I might have went ahead a bit by saying SUB. My mistake, but gimme some more practice and I'll change that [;)] [brown]Evil Jewbroni~[/brown] |
