is my fav band, and their latest album "eMOTIVe" is so well, I'll let you decide. Who highjacked my fav band???? Here are some lyrics:
As I walk on through this wicked world, Searching for light in the darkness of insanity, I ask myself, Is all hope lost? Is there only pain, and hatred, and misery? --------------------- From dehumanization to arms production, For the benefit of the nation or its destruction Power, power, the law of the land, Those living for death will die by their own hand, Life's no ordeal if you come to terms, Reject the system dictating the norms From dehumanization to arms production, To hasten the nation towards its destruction Power, power, the law of the land, Those living for death will die by their own hand, From dehumanization to arms production, To hasten this nation towards its destruction, It's your choice, your choice, your choice, your choice, Peace or annihilation ------------------- Father, father, We don't need to escalate, You see, war is not the answer, For only love can conquer hate, You know we've got to find a way, To bring some loving here today -------------------- I know the world's got problems, I've got problems of my own, Not the kind that can't be solved, With an atom bomb -------------------- Let's have a war, So you can go and die, Let's have a war, We could all use the money, Let's have a war, We need the space, Let's have a war, Clean out this place It already started in the city, Suburbia will be just as easy Let's have a war, Jack up the Dow Jones, Let's have a war, It can start in New Jersey, Let's have a war, Blame it on the middle-class, Let's have a war, We're like rats in a cage It already started in the city, Suburbia will be just as easy Let's have a war, Sell the rights to the networks, Let's have a war, Let our wallets get fat like last time, Let's have a war, Give guns to the queers, Let's have a war, The enemy's within --------------------------- Go back to sleep Go back to sleep Counting bodies like sheep To the rhythm of the war drums |
Lumpy, you surprise me every day. |
Holy shit! A musical band has leftist leanings!?!?!?!?
The hell you say. |
You claim to be a Complete Bastard, and yet you like hippy music. |
Sorry, fresh out of lame ass country music over here |
War, arms development and lethal violence have a pretty good track record against minor annoyances like slavery, communism, naziism - which are big, big sources of dehumanization. I am not knocking smoking reefer, drinking cheap wine, singing very loudly and with great feeling, screwing hippie chicks, or trying to understand other people's motives as a way to put an end to oppression, but I think those fall into the category of "unproven methods." On the other hand, bombing the living crap out of Japan and Germany quieted them down, and spending more money on paint for our missiles than the Reds could spend on food for their people seems to have adjusted their attitude appropriately.
That's better! |
I take it there aren't a lot APC fans out there? To tell you the truth, I'm very disappointed in the band.
Thirteenth step was a good album. emotive scored a 7.5/10 on the suckameter though. |
Howerdell was a better writer than Keenan, although Tool is 10 times the band that APC is. |
I can see the authors point of view. The world is like a power hungry rat race sometimes and the more arms you have the more power you can aquire.
Now multiply that thought by living in or being surrounded by people who subscribe to a utopia and socialist society. Young people with ripe minds who hear hip and groovy college professors who come across as renagade "fight the power" rebels suck it right up. |
I love your icon, Lumpy. |

I like both APC and Tool, but I find it funny that maynard tells everyone to question authority and think for themselves and then releases an entire cd pushing their political beliefs. Tool is better IMO.
That's because he's a tool, get it? |
And then they play that sort of music really loud, so we know from whom we can take stuff by force. Cool. |
APC sucks ass. Its Maynards political band. He is smart enough not to fuck up Tool with his left wing lunicacy.
I still cant figure out why he went to West Point. |
He was in the band, and quit after the first year. |
Let's just say the chick from Abba looked better in a skirt than MJK. |
If you want to hear some good militant stuff, look no further than JUSTICE!

First of all this:
FEAR LYRICS "Let's Have A War" [Chorus:] There's so many of us There's so many of us There's so many [x2] There's so many of us There's so many of us There's so many Let's have a war So you can go and die! Let's have a war! We could all use the money! Let's have a war! We need the space! Let's have a war! Clean out this place! It already started in the city! Suburbia will be just as easy! [Chorus] Let's have a war! Jack up the Dow Jones! Let's have a war! It can start in New Jersey! Let's have a war! Blame it on the middle-class! Let's have a war! We're like rats in a cage! It already started in the city! Suburbia will be just as easy! [Chorus] Let's have a war! Sell the rights to the networks! Let's have a war! Let our wallets get fat like last time! Let's have a war! Give guns to the queers! Let's have a war! The enemy's within! It already started in the city! Suburbia will be just as easy! Is a song by the 80s punk band FEAR, who were known primarily for their problems with alcohol and the violence of their shows. You ought to check out the Cro-Mags or the Anti-Heros if you want hard lyrics. This new jack shit is for the birds... |
I much prefer the non-musical bands. |
Take out the CD and put it in the microwave... it's the only way to be sure!
Here's something to hold you over until you find a Tool Cd... My shadow's Shedding skin and I've been picking Scabs again. I'm down Digging through My old muscles Looking for a clue. I've been crawling on my belly Clearing out what could've been. I've been wallowing in my own confused And insecure delusions For a piece to cross me over Or a word to guide me in. I wanna feel the changes coming down. I wanna know what I've been hiding in My shadow. Change is coming through my shadow. My shadow's shedding skin I've been picking My scabs again. I've been crawling on my belly Clearing out what could've been. I've been wallowing in my own chaotic And insecure delusions. I wanna feel the change consume me, Feel the outside turning in. I wanna feel the metamorphosis and Cleansing I've endured within My shadow Change is coming. Now is my time. Listen to my muscle memory. Contemplate what I've been clinging to. Forty-six and two ahead of me. I choose to live and to Grow, take and give and to Move, learn and love and to Cry, kill and die and to Be paranoid and to Lie, hate and fear and to Do what it takes to move through. I choose to live and to Lie, kill and give and to Die, learn and love and to Do what it takes to step through. See my shadow changing, Stretching up and over me. Soften this old armor. Hoping I can clear the way By stepping through my shadow, Coming out the other side. Step into the shadow. Forty six and two are just ahead of me. |
You're surprised?
Maynard created A Perfect Circle because the rest of Tool didn't want to politics he wanted to push into the music. |
Anti-war peaceniks, but great musicians.... |
The first lyric is from "What's so funny about peace, love and understanding", Elvis Costello. Are they some kind of cover band?
So, did Maynard realllllly get saved or was that a publicity stunt???
Words mean things and create messages, conveying ideas. Arms production has preserved this nation, rather than hastening its destruction. Abandoning the arms that enable our defense would not lead to peace. It would open an invitation to those whom we have deterred by our strength. These lyrics are idealistic and obviously written by somebody who doesn't understand the real world. I was naive when I was young, too. |
April Fools. |
But did you hear "The Fiddle and the Drum"? Gives me shivers. Yea, it's left of center. Yea, the guy can sing. When he runs for office, I'll worry about his politics. |
I'm just so disappointed! Now I can't even listen to it. Anyone want me to mail it to you? It makes me cringe. Their last 2 albums were awesome except for the blasphemous "F*ck Your God" song called "Judith". Oh well, guess I'll have to moooooove on.
It's mostly a cover album, mostly. True that the songs were chosen for a reason. We may not agree with the standpoint but the man has a right to voice his opinions and views. Tool and APC are both excellent bands and I have a lot of respect for Maynard as a musician. Even though I don't agree with the views I still enjoy the music.
And Judith was a great song for the record... |
And I have a right not to listen to it. You're right that "Judith" was a good song, musically, but some of the lyrics were a little harsh. |
A big +1. Couldn't have said it better myself. |
Since this has been brought back from the dead....when do you guys think Tool will release the new album they've been working on?
First one is "Annihilation" by Crucifix ('80's hardcore, singer was from Indo China, IRRC, so...) Second one is "Louie,Louie" reworked by Black Flag (also '80's hardcore, these guys's were usually pretty wasted so, what do you expect?)rocko. |
so it took you 2 years to figure out what that song says ? LOL
I like tool and apc as well, the talent is amazing. |
What do you mean 2 years????? eMOTIVe came out 11-02-2004! It hasn't even been out a year.
I agree with you however APC has lost a lot of my respect after their third album. First two albums are awesome, the third one however will not be listened to. |
OMG!!!! Just to tick me off some more.....
Go to their site: APC Then click on the Peace Sign to view each disturbing image!!! |
yeah those images have been up since before emotive was released. I'm glad that most APC fans think emotive sucks, maybe it will convince them not to do it again. |
