I had ordered a Bushmaster A3 16" to pick up tomarrow.  I called today before driving down there and they said their was a mix up in the shipping somewhere. [spank]  They offered to sell me a Bushmaster A3 14.5" with the muzzle brake on it they have in stock for $10 more.  Have any of you shot both? What is your opinion.  This is my first AR and I don't know what to do.  I am really bad about buying something as soon as I decide I want it and waiting a week for the 16" might kill me (same reason I didn't go for the LEGP).  Thanks.

$10 more is actually $90 off their regular price and $30 less then their sale price, so I dont think the price will change.  Are they a lot louder than one without the brake?

What they want to sell you is what I have and I really like mine. It is a lot louder, but you wear hearing protection anyway. I would go for it. I hate waiting too.

I'd wait. I hate to disagree here, but 1.5 inches does matter IMO if you want to squeeze some accuracy out of it. And those muzzle breaks are fucking loud. Not only that, but with a post ban gun you might as well have a crowned barrel.

I know how you feel though, I'm probably the most impatient bastard their is. But I think if you wait, you'll be happy you did.

I'd recommend waiting for the regular 16" barrel.  Those 14.5" with muzzle breaks are loud as hell.  They also send the gasses/recoil/whatever out in a sideways direction.

...Both of which annoy other shooters next to you at the range.  Hell, I won't shoot within two lanes of a guy using one of those things...

Plus, they do kinda look a bit silly anyhow.

Wait for what you ordered; you'll be glad that you did.  (Oh, and see if you can get them to toss in a USGI preban for their error.)  [:D]

I'd go with the 16" . There is a loss of energy with the shorter barrel ,  although small .

Any more opinions?  As popular as Bushies are there has to be more than six replies. PLEEEEEEEASE, my sanity depends on making the right decision[:)].  Thanks Guys.

LOL.  If you already have 14.5" I sure she is not going to complain.[sex] I should also say that the accuracy thing doesn't bother me that much.  This will be more just to waste ammo and have fun with.  When I want accuracy I will probably get a second one with 20" barrel anyway.

hmmmmmm?
Yup, size DOES matter.

Go with the 16", cause there IS such thing as TOO long, especially indoors [}:D]

Thanks for all of your input.  It sucks, I really wanted to be holding my new baby tonight.  I did decide to wait for the 16", I think I will like it better and I can pick it up first thing Tuesday morning.  BUT, three more days to go. [>(]  Thanks again.

Hey Matthew S, you made the right choice waiting because you'll get what you wanted in the first place. And if you get too impatient between now and Tuesday, just think about the poor guys who ordered the LEGP and had to wait literally months before they saw their babies! Now that's torture. [>Q]
