g19, I love mine did a rant in the glock forum
EDIT_ If you throw another $500 at it you could have a kick ass glock. |
Only sissies shoot 9mm, git yerself a .45, It blows ppl back 10 foot when winged in the finger.
get the glock, HK would be further down my list.
Good luck Chris |
For some reason I don't shoot my G19 very often.
Get the USP. ETA - Not interested in an XD? |
The 19 mags are cheaper, I don't like the square muzzle on the HK, the corners are sharp.
I say go Glock! |
Get a 1911, everyone knows they NEVER EVER jam and you will NEVER EVER need more than 8 rounds in a gunfight.
I don't think that will work in this situation. 1911's are made for men. SGatr15 |

your catching on young pup! |
Glock, without a doubt.
No double/Single 1st/2nd shot crap. Glocks are damned reliable. |
I dont think anybody gets this thread... |
Good one. That is sigline material there. |

they DO make varients with DAO or SAO |
You pussies and your .45's every one knows real men use a .50bmg Hell I got one don't you. You dam monster. I really don't have one just incase some one belives that shit and is reading this. But I highly doubt it but feel safer making it clear. Good day |

Tucson PD was the largest single users of USP pistols. They are dumping them and moving to Glocks as their budget will allow. Started the transition in 2001.
Think they know something? I will tell you not to get a variant 1 if you must have a USP. |
glock is a good beater gun--parts, accesories, and mags are easier to come by
h/w i dont like the trigger and no safety for carry, i'd go for the HK; but i would take the SIG series over the HK |
Please, don't inform them... it's painful enough. |

That was sarcasm there cheese whiz. 1911s can have malfunctions like any other pistol and the 8 round argument is all subjective. I'll take a Glock. |
+1 or the P239 is you want a small one |
Get an HK P2000....best out of the box trigger of all the plastic wonders. |

I own a G19 and have shot a range rental USP c 9mm. At short ranges the repeatability of shots is incredible, espically when drawing and firing quickly. On the other hand, the USP compact 9mm was a much more accurate pistol at distances beyond 20 yards. The USP also showed some extra accuracy in 7-15 yard shooting, shrinking most groups from 3" @ 10 yards to 2-2.5" @ 10 yards. While I'm not a great shot, I think this was caused by the SA trigger pull on it. I did not fire the USP in DA enough to comment, nor did I quickly draw and fire since this was an indoor range.
My vote went to the USP. However, the Glock is still a fine choice dispite what is being posted about it. BTW: Just make sure to get a 1911 down the road.. ;] |

I have had serious problems with my Glock 19. Many, many folk have had none, but I swear, I seem to keep getting the lemons that come out of the factory.
Bought the pistol in Feb '04. Worked fine with the issued 10 rds mags AND BALL AMMO. I bought 4 preban mags from a guy called "limmox". for $75 each. I intended to use either Speer Gold Dots or Winchester RA9TA in it. 2 mags seemed to be fine, with 50 rds each Gold Dot and Winchester through them. The other 2 had constant failures to feed. Gun wasn't limp-wristed, and was properly lubed. Rounds were hitting the bottom of the feedramp and hanging up. I went over to GlockTalk and after a lot of reading, saw what the members had to say about the G-19. Not encouraging. Per the folks there, I called Glock up and requested a couple 9mm-3 followers to try out (had 9mm-1). They seemed to make zero differerence. At this point, I'm suspicious of the first 2 mags, and retest them. They also had a couple jams each. So at this point, I can't trust any of the 4 mags. Now, I've fired in excess of 1000 Federal American Eagle 115gr FMJ through all 6 mags, not one single jam. I send the gun back to Glock, and they 1) replace all followers with 9mm-3s, 2) replace all mag springs, and 3) replace the slide stop. I retest, and 2 mags have rounds feeding higher on the feedramp, which they should be, and 2 that are hitting a little higher, but they still jam. $300 for 4 mags, $41 to send the gun back, and I only have 2 reliable mags. I say screw it, and at the gunshow this weekend, bought 6 new 3-rd generation new production mags. $125 spent there. Now I have to test these 6. By the time I'll be done, I will have shot over 1000 rds of JHP ammo, and spent $466 in mags/shipping, and about $400 in ammo to try and make this damn thing work reliably. I'm sure that there are plenty of folk who love their Glocks, and I'm sure I'm in the minority, but damn, I can't recommend Glocks to anyone, based on my experiences. I wonder how many G-19 uses have run a couple hundred JHPs through their "carry guns"? |
thats my experience good up close oh shit gun, but I cant hit shit with it at distances compared to with my 1911, i think the sites are too big and the trigger is too funky still its made for up close not long range shots. |
You mean the sights on the glock are too big? I have the stock plastic sights on my Glock (Note toe self: buy those Trijicons soon) and they do seem very wide and flat compared to a couple other pistols I have. But like you were saying, in the "oh shit" practice I ran through with it, the sights weren't completely used on the first shot and were quick to acquire for the following shots. |

If you have small hands the trigger reach is shorter on the Glock.
Thats just my opinion, they are perfect for nailing bad guy at 10 yards but out at like 50 it pretty much just covers the target. Its a great CCW gun just draw get those big sites on target and start popping off rounds. |
Get the Glock. I have a G19 with over 15k rounds and it has not had a single gun related failure. Only failures were early on when "limp wristing" since I didn't know what the hell I was doing (it was my first handgun).
If you're worried about accuracy and shot group size, go get a bolt gun. Glock's aren't designed to be tack drivers, they're designed to be combat weapons shot at combat distances at combat size targets, not for hitting penny size targets at 25 yards. Just thought I'd respond to all those who rave about the accuracy of their pistols. Don't get me wrong, I own a Sig P228 which is incredibly accurate but I prefer the Glock as a PDW due to it's incredible durability and reliability. |

Glock 19. I had two and sold them when I got glocks in other calibers. There are aftermarket sites for those who want something for longer range, there are mods you can do to the trigger, heck there is all sorts of stuff for a glock. And a glock is very simple so I change stuff out myself.
And any gun can have problems, so like the poster above make sure you run lots of rounds through the gun and all magazines so that you are sure of what works and what might not work. My favorite thing about my glocks is I have no emotional attachment to them. I can sell these and get more just like them. I don't worry about any holster wear or if they get stolen. Now a nice 1911 that I have invested some money in happens to be something I get attached too. |
4k through my uspc9 without a failure. great range toy.
do you want 1911 style controls or do you like the glock trigger? seems like that would be an easy way to decide. |
