i don't have the faintest idea why in the hell somebody would want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane
however, if 30calTBLkid is any indication, it's because you're INSANE!!!! |

I've got some pics when I jumped from a black hawk... I've just got to figure out how to post pics now.

I'll take it along whenever we do a day jump.. so far every jump I've done in division was in the middle of the night. |

i have a great uncle who was in the 101st for ww2, korea, and vietnam. i wish he lived closer so i could hear his stories. |

The LRSD types might... I'm not sure. The typical trooper in the 82nd won't. |

Although it's been more than 40 years, the jump commands make the hair stand up on my neck.
Stand in the door! Regards, Mild Bill, 4th Platoon, Co. E, 501st Inf., 101 A long time ago there was a flying machine named Boxcar. The first plane I ever took a ride in. 19 takeoffs before the first landing with the plane. The landing sticks in my mind. Terrifying. |

And on the 8th day God created Paratroopers and the devil stood at attention!

inferno715, You should expend every effort to get your great uncle to talk about his experiences, and record them on video. Unfortunately, a day will come where you will be greatful you did, or sad beyond belief that you didn't. 82ndAbn, Great thread! |

Wow...if those pics are from 325, then those are probably from my old unit. Hell, there is one guy in there that looks almost like me.

Ever since jump school I am scared to death of landing with the plane... I can't stand it... Once the plane hits the ground I feel like it is going to start skidding side ways and roll over. It drives me nutts! I would rather jump any day.
AIRBORNE! Anybody have the 1st Sgt in jump school they called the "Duke?" I watched him chew out a navy guy I think was a seal who jumped into a puddle of water as we where marching back from the training area like he was going to swim in it or something... Funny stuff... The seal just kept on doing push ups with a grin on his face... Don't get me wrong I have total respect for those navy seals. |
|
Oustanding pics, Hatchet! Thanks for posting them!
ETA: I went through the jump school in 1988. |
