Obviously one is semi-auto and one is not, but, each has its own unique features and advantages. I guess what I am really asking is, which one would you rather have? Comments please.

Having seen both and shot the M82, Id take the M82.

I have never seen a takedown that lived up to the accuracy claims, unless it was put together and never broke down again.

The real question is, which one will show up in a Bruce Willis movie, and which one is getting the job done in real combat.

Based on looks alone the WindRunner is tHe WiN.

Agreed. For accuracy and transportability the Windrunner would be the choice. For firepower and coolness the Barret wins. I believe the standard answer is "Get both".

The one that comes with a shitload of free ammo and a 1,000 meter range to shoot it on.

The WR will be more accurate.

For the price, you could also get a McMillan or a GA Precision rifle and a lot of match ammo.

For me personally I would go with the Ron Barret's M82A1

I had a Windrunner. It is way up there on the cool factor because of being a takedown. They are accurate (MOA). The only bad thing about them is the brake. It's not real effective, so the recoil is heavier. I have owned 2 other 50's, and it kicked the hardest. I have never shot an M82A1, but from what I gather,  they are hit or miss on accuracy, some guns more accurate than others. It is not going to be as accurate as a a bolt gun simply because the whole barrel moves during recoil. But I do not mean to say they are not accurate guns. They are way up there in the cool scale because of being semi-auto. The Barrett has a great brake. If I had a choice, I'd get a Barrett. The Windrunner is way over priced, and after having spoken with Bill Ritchie, the owner of EDM, on the phone, I think he's a prick. But hey, lot's of folks think I'm a prick.

My next 50 will be a Mcmillan, or Christiensen Arms Carbon Ranger.

BTW, if you get a Windrunner, Armalite sells a brake with threads that will fit the Windrunner. It is cheaper than the regular AR-50 brake, and is one of the best functioning brakes out there.

 I shot a 4" 4 shot group with a .50 Windrunner at 1000 yards at the 2002 Raton match.

The guy who won the match "Stewert wilson"with a 30" barrel, broke it down to clean the barrel both nights after each round. His smallest group was 8.75"

The rifle set a world record 5", 5-shot group at 1004 yards, shot in the prone position on September 17, 1997 By a Marine S/S instructor.

I shot these groups with the .408 at 100 yards and have had .5 MOA at 1200 yards with it on paper. Breaking it down doesn't effect the accuracy.

The best thing about them is their accuracy and being able to throw different caliber barrels on the same reciever, swap the bolt and shoot a different caliber in 1 min.

They each perform better then the other in specific senerios.

But between the two, I'd take the Windrunner, and that has nothing to do with the fact that it's a takedown.  I've just heard better things about them as far as accuracy goes.
