Can a Barrett semi-auto be fired left-handed, without catching a face-full of brass?

Crookshanks,

If you look, c-rock is one of those wierd, sinister people (lefty--I can say that because I am married to one).  No problems with left handed shooting--it's not a bullpup design.

Beekeeper--
Glad to oblige on the .50.  They are a blast to shoot.

The Barrett is still down--one of the fired shells is stuck in the chamber--the extractor ripped the edge of the brass off.  Field expedient fixes did not work.  I am getting a nice solid wood dowel to tap it out (right now, there is a little oil sitting in the chamber with the brass to help with the extraction).  Some of the ammo didn't chamber in the State Arms--the bolt wouldn't go all the way forward.  I am betting I got a bad lot of ammo, with some oversized brass.  Next shoot, I'll get some ammo from a known (ammoman.com) source of good stuff, and it shouldn't have that problem.

My stash at the shoot:

It was definitely great meeting new people and some old shooting buddies.

Next time, I'll reserve one (or two) of the end tables for the .50's so it is easier to shoot them.

I am guessing more than 10,000 rounds. I put 720 rnds of .223 through my Hesse Dispatcher. Plus 200 rnds of .45 ACP through my Kimber Compact. I wasn't the only one shooting. 8-)

It was great fun! Met a lot of nice folks, good to put faces to these names. Hope to do it again sometime.

I was the one taking the picture of c-rock shooting the 50 cal. Never heard one before. When he touched it off I jumped a foot in the air! Lucky I even held on to the camera. New experiences keep you young. I guess.

It was a great time meeting everybody!  At one point I think everybody on the line emptied their magazines at the same time.  A whole lotta lead heading downrange!
Can't wait for the next shoot.
P.S.  Yeah, that's it... the camera.  In my case it must add 40 pounds!  [:E]

I'm sure you guys take it for Granted... but, nice green grass everywhere?

Shit, all we get to shoot on is rocks, sand, and cactus!

McUZI,
if you are talking about the picture with the guns, its my Ak, a SLR-95.  I really like that AK.
AFARR's 50's were nice, and I too want to add one to my collection.  Figuring out hot to pay for it is a different story.
I went thru about 1000 rds that day too.
It was a good time, and the next meet will even be bigger and better.

That was a target she was carrying on her. No soap.
After the pics, we blasted her clean off the face of the earth.
If you are talking about the bottles, in the pit, you can only shoot at plastic stuff, pop cans, and shit like that. No glass, no  hard steel stuff.  Every so often they fire up the pit and burn the stuff up.

MarkM--
I'll give you all the green grass you want if you also take:

1.  No machine guns.
2.  FOID cards.
3.  1 Day Rifle/3 Day Handgun waiting periods.
4.  No CCW permits.
5.  Long drives to get to a range where you can actually shoot (most of us drove 1 hour +).
6.  No machine guns.

And did I mention No machine guns?

Nice pics C-Rock. Sorry I couldn't make it this time. Do you think we can have another shootout again during the last part of July when the range reopens? We can show off our LEGPs by then. [:)]

I was grinning cause I just took a shot with the 50 cal!! That is a fun toy to have, me's wants bad!
It was a good time.
With the pit being closed a good part of the year, labor day is going to be the next "official ar15.com" meet date for sure.
I was planning to set something up in Bristol, Wisc in July, or maybe mid-june. They are one shot wonders there, but have a 200 m range to use for that 50 cal.
hehe
Also some from the group could use the long distance pratice, but I wont name names.

What makes that picture even more interesting is that he is smiling WHILE he is holding 50 lbs of rifle and scope (makes for a good start for a workout).

I did like that rifle. I guess my project for this comming year is to get a 50 cal for the house.
I figure 4 k is a good place to start.

Beekeeper--
www.statearms.com

Their Rebel is pretty much identical to the Knob Creek 2000 you shot.

The current "special" is on the Shorty--which is a nice gun by all reports.

C-rock,

You forget--I'm the one who had to tote the rifle in the Starlight (14.5 lbs) case (made the State Arms total 65 lbs and the Barrett about 55 lbs).  It was an EXTREMELY long walk to and from the car with the guns in the cases here--good thing I could just set them up right out of the trunk at the pit.

If you wind up with 4k to spend--
Get the Armalite ($2500) Bipod ($100) Good Base and rings ($150) and Nightforce Scope ($1000)--you will have a VERY accurate combo.  Others in the same price range are the Barrett M99 (good, but reportedly not as accurate as the Armalite) or the AMAC ($3000, and maybe more accurate than the Armalite).  Or get the State Arms like I have and save a few dollars (it is as accurate as the Armalite, also).
