We can't have that!  The people must do as they are told by their wiser elected leaders!  Even if their leaders must slip the legislation through in the middle of the night and by voice vote so that they can claim to know nothing about who actually voted for it.

That way, our elected leaders can eventually change the system so that they are leaders-for-life.  Who needs an election process, anyway?

The Constitution may not be the greatest work ever set to paper,
but it beats what the government is using now.

God, the legislature really thought they were pulling a fast one with the 5% on incomes over $100k, weren't they? I bet they thought no one would protest a tax on the wealthiest, and then they could lower the income brackets later on.

Very heartening to see that people aren't as stupid and apathetic as the politicians think.  At least when it comes to new taxes.

A tax of 5% for any income over $100,000.  But it would be no big deal to lower in the future once they got the law on the books.  You will find few people make over that limit, and in the future the legislators/gov will whine we don't have enough money and lower the thrushold to include more people.  Back when they first started Social Security, the tax was very small, but over the years it grew, and grew, and grew to what it is today.
