Caught the video for the song "Hashpipe" by the group Weezer on MTV2. Except MTV mutes out the vocals when the word "hashpipe" comes up and has the title of the song on the screen edited to "H***Pipe".
What in the hell is wrong with MTV? I heard this song plenty of times on the radio and the lyrics weren't edited or muted out at all.
Hashpipe= a pipe for smoking hash(marijuana)
Marijuana is an illegal substance, but it isn't illegal to talk or sing about.
What will politically correct MTV edit next? Guns? So the next time you see an old Guns n Roses video, MTV will change their name to GnR or G*** n Roses. Maybe change the title and lyrics to Aerosmith's "Janie's Got a Gun" video?

I had to edit that message because I am McUZI and it contained the word "Ni***r"-

A 1-way ticket to bansville

Edited because I dont want to see that word used and this keeps yer ass here a bit longer. Lets see if we can make a record on how long you are around this time, and maybe, just MAYBE, I can save your old nick and you can contribute without the hate.

Yeah, well, all that aside...to answer the dude's question, EVERY word is "obscene" to SOMEone.  Have another Guinness, listen to your tunes, and don't worry about it.  'Swhat I'd do, anyhow.

they bleeped out the word "valium" for Eminem's song The Real Slim Shady.  Line is something like "kids are eating up my rhymes like valiums" or something.  Stupid kids probably dont even know what a valium is anyway.

I wonder if MTV translates and edits the German lyrics to Rammstein's videos?
Which I have to add, why are German lyrics played on an English speaking channel. You don't hear songs in all Spanish, Japanese, French, etc on the U.S. version of MTV, so what makes Rammstein so special?
But then again, I think MTV is run by the 3rd Reich anyways.

Yeah, my friend's daughter has a T-shirt that said "HASH INC."
She wore it to school and was told she couldn't wear it anymore.
Her last name IS Hash, and the (software) company is owned by her father!!

On an aside, you should have seen the stares when my friend and I were younger and I would yell across the mall to him:  "Hey Hash"

The Other Chris

Okay, now you've all opened an old wound.
I only see MTV on the monitor at the gym when I'm on the treadmill (don't own a tv) Theres this "song" by someone called Kid something or  other that has a line in it "Drink like a Mick"

No body seems to have a problem with that.

If  the line were "Sweat like a ni**er" do you think someone might notice it?  Someone please explain to this poor dumb Mick why one is "racist" and the other isn't.

I'm waiting...make it good.

My point exactly.  What we are saying here, is it's okay for person A to say something, but not person B, strictly because of the color of their skin.

That's the norm, it's accepted, and if that's not racism, I don't understand the definition.
I just wish society would acknowlege it.

Tom Petty has a song in which he mentions smoking a joint.  But when the video went on MTV the word was made unintelligable.  I don't care one way or the other, MTV is vehemently anti-gun, all the way to the top.  The founder is Josh Sugerman, if I remember right.  Haven't watched MTV in years.  Haven't missed it either.
