My budddy, brianksain recently had a thread asking for help with the Adopt A Sniper program.

www.adoptasniper.com/

This is a program headed up by some police snipers and others in the sniper community in the USA that are sending some much-needed supplies to military snipers in the war zone.  Brian was very thankful for all the help from you fine folks and asked me to post a couple of pics for him.

Brian has been gathering supplies needed and packing them in his garage and then mailing them to the troops.  Here's a pic of his latest shipment, which is going out tomorrow:

He has been getting a lot of e-mails from the guys there, thanking those that have participated.  I wish I could post all the pics, but most are of indiviuals and sniper squads and I don't have their permission to post them.  The notes attached are very moving in their sincerity and appreciation.

One fellow sent this pic of the equipment he and his squad are using:

It looks pretty beat up, but I'm sure it is from use, not abuse.

The bad guys have been seeing a lot of the wrong end of these weapons.

Thanks guys, for helping out.  The troops appreciate it.

... Sure good to see these guys get the stuff we’re sending them. I hadn't heard a word whether they got them or not on a couple of the packages I sent.

I suppose you might be refering to the "Adapt a Platoon" thread that's tacked.  I'm sure that's a fine program also, but this is not the same.

This program specifically addresses the needs of snipers and sniper squads.  Addresses of individual troops aren't given out, but all packages are sent by those that are running the program, like Brian.

He and the other guys running the program are getting a lot of very good comments from the troops.  They are very appreciative that there are people back in the states that are willing to help them out.

I checked out their web site, and SHIT! those folks are asking for long-range laser rangefinders, darn the gubermint should be supplying that suff to them. That is a real shame, that they are begging for this stuff from the public. It is a good thing that we are not up against a world class power. Why is the USA military buying billions of dollars worth of Strykers and the common ordinary soldier can't get binoculars and rangefinders. That really makes my blood boil.

Garandman: There isn't enough room to type what all has been sent. Everything from baby wipes to body armor.

Shooters Choice just sent me $ 1500.00 worth of product. Militech and FFP10 kicked in too.

Got an email from Force guys yesterday asking for 50 each of a bunch of M16 parts just for their stuff as they get ready to go over.

BIG TICKET ITEMS:

Range finders - 1000 yd. or more
Safariland 6004 holsters for Beretta 92Fs
Wind meters- Kestrel - Skymate
Blackhawk STRIKE Commando Chest harnesses
Spotting scopes with mil dots

Hell ... they need everything bro. Desert Tan or desert pattern where possible.

Thanks everyone.

Check out their list of "I wants;" but remember though, according to their web site, the govt does supply what they need, but these extra nice items makes there "work" so much easier. The items supplied by the govt are mostly the lowest-bidder stuff and could be older technology. The civilian stuff is sometimes better, ie more comfortable, more pockets, more convenient etc.

WARLORD: Just for clarification ...

The post on the ADOPTASNIPER site is from only one platoon and is not representative of many, many others who are surely doing without what that one platoon is very lucky to have.

The one platoon had good support to start with, got in on the deal early and are well taken care of.

Others are not nearly so fortunate. The need is immense to say the least. One platoon had guys spending anywhere from $1500 to $3000 on their own gear.

Just an FYI.

Thanks to all the 15ers that have helped us.

You guys truly rock

Actually money is better.  Then the guys running the program can buy what is needed.

But do whatever you want.  Many thanks.

Good article in current issue of SOF about the types of guys we support.

One of the guys we support was injured by an IED two days ago and is on the way home.

He's the same guy that asked me for some Beretta mags. He never got to use them as I just put the spring kits, etc. in the mail pipe and they are on the way to where he WAS ... NOW.

His fellow Marines will get them and all subsequent packages for the duration of their tour.

We can use all the help we can get men.

I know you guys got your own gig going here too though so thanks again for what you've already done.

Subject: Adopt A Sniper Update

You have received this email because you have been a generous supporter of
Snipersonline U.A.'s ADOPT A SNIPER program.

If you do not wish to receive future updates please email me at;
[email protected] and I will remove your name from our list.

To bring everyone up to date the program is now supporting 70 sniper
platoons, deployed across the world.  The majority of them are obviously in
Iraq and Afghanistan but there is a couple of units that are deployed into
areas that we can not divulge here.  As we have stressed, in this war on
terror, the sniper brings precision accuracy to the battle and keeps the
rest of the troops secure by engaging threats well before they have to face
them in the deadly confrontation known as Close Quarters Battle.

Your support has meant the world to these heroes.

We have received countless letters and phone calls from them thanking us for
the support.  We make sure that they know that their efforts are appreciated
by the people that have and are continuing to support them.  One of our
first platoons is in the process of rotating back to the states and we look
forward to their return.  Hopefully after they have made it stateside,
operational security protocols will allow us to let them post, by name and
company, their personal Thank yous.

The project director, Brian Sain, advises that as this endeavor has moved
forward the attention and focus has changed.  At first we were shipping
everything from candy to toilet paper along with the high speed gear.  As we
have learned and the number of platoons has increased we have found that
what the guys really want is just the gear.  They advise that their families
have been supportive in proving for the comfort type items.

Thus we have changed to shipping almost entirely to the high speed gear
these men need to make their jobs easier and every shot more effective.
Listed below, in no particular order are the major items that we have seen
requested.

#1.  CLEANING SUPPLIES - Patches, bore brushes, cleaning fluids, all the
stuff needed to get that clean bore shot is constantly in short supply.   We
are set up through Brownell's as a dealer and get reduced pricing for this
type of item.

#2. CHEST HARNESSES - The body armor issued to the men does not allow them
to get a proper position on the rifle stock for a proper sight picture
through their scopes.  So these guys are shedding their armor in the heat of
battle.  NOT GOOD.  The biggest request has been for Blackhawk's Strike
Plate carrier chest harness.   Using this rig they can take the solid chest
and back plates out of their armor and place them into the carrier.  This
gives them some protection as they do not have to shed the rig to get a
decent stock weld.

#3. CHEEK PADS - Both Eagle and Blackhawk cheek pads with the integral ammo
pouches allow the sniper to get good cheek placement and the ease of quick
ammo retrieval.

#4. DROP HOLSTERS - The Safariland 6004 drop leg holster places the sidearm
low and makes it easier to access for defensive purposes when in prone or
crouched positions.

#5. WIND METERS AND LASER RANGEFINDERS - Many of the engagements are at long
distance.  One of the confirmed kills one of our snipers took was at 1230
yards.  At those distances proper calculations to compensation for wind and
range is imperative.

#6. SPOTTING SCOPES AND MINI BINOCULARS - The issued items are often large
and or not as numerous as is needed.

#7. MATS - A hot dry arid theater of operation makes for very warm rooftops.

These are just some of the items that we have been supplying.

Many of the companies have worked out pricing arrangements with us so we get
these items at rock bottom pricing.

We continue to look to our supporters.  We ask that you continue to spread
the word about this endeavor and the good work that these heroes are doing.

As always you can contribute through the website at:
