In the latest issue of American Rifleman, two of the rifles they tested were a .50 Cal and a .22lr, and I found the results quite amuzing.

Recoil in ft/lbs:
.50 Cal -- 95+
.22lr ---- .1

That's quite a contrast!

As a side note, does anyone know where an AK would fit in between these two extremes?  AR's are about 2 ft/lbs.  A .308 is about 20.

The .50 I shot felt more like a round of 12ga 3" magnum. I remember that .300 win mag was around 30ft/lbs and .338 win mag was 34ft/lbs.

Now your scaring me.... I just picked up a new .308 and have not fired it yet.  Seems it will be quite different from the AR (10x?).
