Buy the Autauga Arms .32 that I have. Small as the Guardian and comes with an extra mag. Excellent quality.

whatever you choose, make sure it's a caliber/style that she can handle. I made the mistake of buying a derringer (isn't that cute?) for my wife in .38 special... she fired it all of about three times.
Since then, I bought her a GP-100 in .357 and she's very pleased. The derringer most often accompanies me now when one of my .45's is impractical.

I think you are making a great choice.  I am thinking about the same gun for myself for my CCW.

Don't buy a Beretta 9000. I got a good deal on one of these guns and the trigger is too stiff for her. She likes my 1911 better than that gun.
Guess it will be sold at the next show this weekend.
What she really wants is the Walther P-99 but she wants the .40 instead. I assume it has the same model number. Two stage trigger, very nice pistol

Does it have to be an auto? A double action S&W .38 special revolver is VERY easy to use if it is intended for defense. Also, on the P99, I read somewhere while the 9MM got very good reviews, the .40 did not.

That's interesting. I wonder what the problem was?

I also wonder why the .40 seems to be so much more accurate. Even though it was tough for her to squeeze the trigger on the 9000, she was way more accurate with it than the stainless 92FS I bought her.

I have the G27 (.40 version of the G26), and I like it.  The only issue that you might wish to be aware of is that even with the Pearce Grip extenders (and there is a +1 to take the .40's to a 10 rounder), there still feels like there is no support at the bottom of the hand (mostly in the palm area.  This takes a while to get over, if you are used to the full or compact sized guns (vs. the subcompact that the 26 and 27 are).

See about taking her to the range, see if she can handle the .40 in the sub-compact, and encourage her in that direction if you are looking at the G26.  The extra power with the same size is a plus that I have chosen personally to go after.

And oh yeah, congrats on a great wife (one who shoots).  Many of the guys out here have women who don't understand this crazy stuff!  [:)]

go P99, my wife loves it. It comes with three  different size grips, so it will fit you or your wife.

If your wife has small hands, consider the Glock 36. Single-stack magazine makes it much thinner than the G26/27. Plus it's a .45.

I'm liking the Sig P 232 in .380.

Sweet little gun.

or if you GOTTA have at least a 9mm, look at the Kahr P9. Polymer frame. DAO, which is good for the less than initiated, so they don't shoot themselves. Light as a feather, and 7+1.

I use this as my carry gun, its that nice.

My wife - all 5'-nothin of her, just LOVES the Commander I got and tuned for her.  She likes it even more than her old issue Smith Highway Patrolman (model 28) that she has had around for half of forever...

Make DAMN SURE that it is something that will fit her hands.  Also, I have found that most females - particularly smaller females - tend to prefer autos over revolvers given a choice...

I know it's a little late now, but I agree with garandman...Sig P232 in .380.  That's what I bought my girlfriend, and she loves it.

Before I make an offer, do you have any pictures of your wife?  A new gun is a valuable commodity, and I don't want to make an offer without seeing the goods!  BTW, shouldn't this be on the WTB forum? [:D]

Would you consider a used gun and some accessories for your wife?

Seriously, my grandmother loves her PPK!

PS- I just told my wife the two pre-bans I'm building are for my kids! [8D]
