...with regard to the innate nature of gov't, and why gov't abuse occurs. It CERTAINLY explains why BATF is what it is.....

Originally by Ayn Rand, in Atlas Shrugged
"Do you really think that we want those laws to be observed? We want them broken. We're after power and we mean it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breakings laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted-and you create a nation of law breakers--and then you cash in on guilt." -Ayn Rand

"For if you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners to be corrupted from their infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded from this, but that you first make thieves and then punish them ?" Written by Sir Thomas More, Published in 1516. As you can see, the government has not changed much since then. Although the subject may be different in todays society, (such as banning certain weapons for the public) the main idea is very current. We create a society where good men need guns to protect themselves and thier families, then make laws against the good people making it illegal to do so. Sir Thomas More saw this coming 500 years ago. Protect the constitution.
