Does anyone know about gun laws in Finland?

If you humm a few bars, I'll bet somebody knows it. If I remember correctly,it's by Monty Python.

There was Fin that was shooting at the range I work at in Louisiana. He has an absolutely beautiful futuristic looking 308 match gun (I believe that it was a Steyr), and according to him he would not be able to take it back with him. It could have been due to shipping to Europe though.

In Finland you can pretty much buy anything. Even live machine guns, sound suppressors, etc. If you look in their gun mags, you will see ads for German WWII machine guns, Assualt rifles, etc. But you must get a license from the Gov't.

If you wish to own a firearm the reasons for it are 1. For your profession, some security agencies for example 2. Sporting purposes 3. Hunting  4. Collecting

Those are the main reasons to own a firearm.

You can buy ANYTHING YOU LIKE, as long as it is suitable for the purpose, ie a 9mm or bigger for IPSC and 3 Gun matches and a semiauto rifleto the previous ones also. I personally own a Busmaster M4A3 flattop carbine, L1A1 made in Australia and a HK USP in 9mm. I bought my first weapon when i was 15.

If you wish to start collecting any weapons for example you have get yourself approved as a weapons collector with the state officials.

Basically when you feel you´ve been around weapons and owned them long enough you send them an applications stating why you want to collect(technical details, historic value, etc..), weapons from what era, how many, timeframe(can be very wide), list where you have gained knowledge of weaponry and such things. If they approve you, then you CAN BUY WHATEVER IS ON YOUR LIST, including M203s even.
The line with the officials has tightened somewhat but a with reasonable efforts you will get approved. And our prices are ridicolous compared to the prices you have to pay in the States for HK94 convert to MP5s for example

So how much would an MP5 cost?

yeah, how would i move there, i would be collecting military type firearms and civilian firearms, both semi and auto, belt fed and magazine fed, from calibers from .0025 to 16 in. from 1800 to 3000, and would live in an underground fortess.

i too know nothing of the laws, but my sister was once bitten by a moose.  quite savage actually that moose was.

What does "Hubba hubba haista nubba" mean? My spelling may be off a bit, but Finlanders keep shouting this at me and I want to know what it means.

Fuzz, where did they yell these words, kinda hard to guess from that but "haista" means smell or in "haista vittu" it means f*** you.
If you could remember the exact words it might be easier.

Hound, if you don´t mind traveling north in Finland, we have one of the best weapon shops around here, name is Joensuun SAR, and 25m indoor range in the same space as our shop, capable of shooting all pistol calibers, targets run on electricity, 10 booths, 5 on each side.
