anybody else having issues?
ill start off buying saying i am one of the millions that are. i am a worker over the last year my company was real slow had to go on partial unemployment which chewed up my weeks then had to go on euc. i know people like to ride it out but i have been looking for work but its not easy. i was terminated dec 9th not becuase of anything i did just becuase they couldnt afford to keep me. my wife does work and we are doing ok i just may have to sale a gun or two but thats for other essentials for the family. i am sure there are alot of ppl worse off then i am i would like to here some other stories. if u want to flame me becuase of this i would like to say understand i just got laid of perm dec 9th i am 32 years old with 17 years of work history and first time using unemployment and i look everyday for work |
|
What exactly is the issue?
I have friends that say the unemployment system is a mess and some even refuse to use it because it's so frustrating to keep jumping through all the hoops they throw at you |
|
Is there a question in that post or are you bragging, complaining, or what?
|
|
I'm not understanding the post
BTW punctuation and sentence structure might help with future employment |
|
having been on unemployment before and being on it now, make sure your job search logs are filled out, if it isnt and they do a job log review for that particular date and you have no explination as to why it isnt filled out propperly then you will get a full job log review meeting at a later date, go to this dont say screw it and miss it, make sure you recieve a letter stating you have the mandatory review, keep it, if you miss the mandatory second job log review at least in washington state they will cut off your benefits and fine you what they had paid you already, i never got the second notification in the mail and they added a grand to what i owed them saying it was a "fine".

The problem as of dec 28th. Anybody on euc did not recieve there $$$ including me
|
|
I have no problem with someone who through no fault of their own finds themselves unemployed. I have been there. What I have a problem with is people that stay on it for extended periods of time ( more than 3-6 months ). If you cannot find a job in 3-6 months then you are not looking hard enough or don't want to work.
Sometimes finding a job means you have to take a job you wouldn't take under normal circumstances. Sometimes it means you have to sell out and move. To the OP. I hope it works out well for you. I had to do this about 15 years ago but found a job within a few weeks. |
|
No flame here. Unemployment compensation is there for those that need it. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. There is no such thing as loyalty anymore. The days are gone when one could expect to get in 30+ years with a single employer.
Things are kinda bleak right now where I am - just had a 10% attrition action Friday (aka lay-off). But the .gov keeps telling me the recession is over. |
|
Why did you stay on the sinking ship while using all your weeks up?

On October 15th, I had to lay off three guys that worked for me. We rehired them last week, and of the three, two didn't get to keep a penny in unemployment and the other one received only $225 total. One received a lot more, but had to pay it back since he was unavailable for work during the three weeks he collected because he was in job interviews for three or more days during the week so he was considered unavailable for work. I think we pay about 2% of the first $41,300 of pay in unemployment to the state so it sucks to see them rip-off our former employees like that.z |

Maybe if you knew how to communicate you wouldn't be unemployed.

Good luck in the job search. I grew up in swpa but I moved after college due to the poor economy. |

system needs to be abolished, I bet people could find a job in a day

Wife hasn't worked since June.... Obamacare pretty much closed the pharmacy she worked at. No one is hiring around here due to the reduced payments and uncertainty with it....Hasn't even gotten an interview and UI ran out last week.
Welcome to the new normal. |

Must be another part of PA. |

But it gets busy and they can not find replacements locally we have to send from our district until things slow down a little. We have rigs in a few places in PA. I think most are near Williamsport. PA is not that big though. |

You need to learn how to communicate with written word.
Not text messages. |

My first suggestion would be go back and finish High School - especially English / Grammar and probably math and Science. You obviously didn't pay attention in English class - doubt you passed any of the others. |

What in the hell is going on in this thread exactly?
It's like trying to read a bad string of texts... Speed |

Why did you stay on the sinking ship while using all your weeks up? View Quote You quit, you lose the right to claim That said, anybody already on EUC as of 12-28-13, funds are no longer available. This is the big thing with congress doing something about it. Just keep up with your filing of your claim and your job search. If/when congress comes up with a solution, you will get your money retroactive. Find some side work and pray is my best advice. Even if you find suitable employment, the weeks you claimed are still do to you. Good luck getting in with the gas folks. I looked into working with them, but my age works against me. Only thing offered was 10 bucks an hour and 100 hours a week traveling around doin grunt work 7 days a week. That would be OK if I was 20 something and no responsibilities. Otherwise they brought their own crews with them. Very few jobs they claimed to be bringing to the area panned out. You can make better money and bennies by working for Sheetz. If they get their heads out of their asses, maybe the keystone pipeline will go through and something there will be available........IF |

I am not trying to be an ass, but if times are hard shut off the Internet. If you are "thinking" of selling a gun maybe you should. There seems to be a lot of things you could do to support your family instead of waiting on unemployment.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Keep looking and don't give up.
