What load out did the Navy Seals use in the Captain Phillips rescue. Interested to know what rifles / gear was used.

Last I checked, they didn't rescue Captain Phillips- someone else did it for them. They couldn't have fine it without helicopters, aircraft carriers, roads, a Tarmac...

H&K G3s mostly except one guy who had a MP7.*
Or that's what Gabe Suarez will try to tell you when he's hawking PTR91s |

IDK but I wanted to take that "leader" skinny and gut him with a kitchen knife while he begged me to stop Then right before he dies, douse him with gas and set him on fire.
That movie pissed me off |

Vulcan Arms supplied the rifles for that particular mission. They are the choice of the Special Forces.. |

They halo'd in. Kinda eliminates roads, tarmac, whatever. I'm no sqeal lover, but I'm pretty damn sure that the fucking cooks on that aircraft carrier didn't rescue Phillips. |

Always wondered why they just not sink the boat as everyone knows the skinnies can't swim

I got the skinny from an Ex 13th Armored Div. 2nd platoon Delta Seal Force artillery sniper spec-op tunnel rat out of Da Nang. Says some bad shit went down, he told me never get off the boat, never get off the fucking boat. The shits about to come down!
Says, they used flying fucking tigers man! fuckin' tigers... Try and dig a fox hole on a fucking boat man! They laid snake and nape, bad shit! all the positions were over ran, they had to call B52 strikes on their own positions. Bad shit..... He remembered being on the 60, then ran out of ammo, he grabbed a dead gooks AK, same shit! When he lost his .45, he grabbed his dead friends trusty KBAR...Knifed every swinging dick gook fucker as they jumped in his foxhole, then ran out of blades....bad shit. Says, the shit was so bad, he couldn't even talk about it....much less what gear they were runnin...just knows all his buddies were laying face down in the mud. he saw a sniper with a scope on his flame thrower, could a been the swinging dick that made the shot....name was SGT Halfcock or some shit...keep this on the down low, nobody is supposed to know this shit. |

Wiki is wrong then. They used HK416'S. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

from Wiki: Mark 11 Mod 0 (SR-25) sniper rifle Wiki is wrong then. They used HK416'S. I do not think they would use the 5.56 round in that situation. They probably had the 416's when they boarded the vessel, but I doubt they used that platform for the "sniper" shots. I would say the MK11 in 7.62 would be the better choice. |

Captain Phillips should be renamed:
"Movie in which Tom Hanks, demonstrating as much acting talent as a piece of cardboard, portrays a character that has a bad East Coast accent and the director films the back of his head mostly while a bland story is told of a shipping company that believed in gun-control and it's crew that cowered in fear from four people with guns they could've easily taken care of had they simply been armed or even slightly courageous men, but instead hundreds of thousands of dollars were wasted by sending Navy SEALs halfway around the world to save their dumbasses." I guess it's hard to fit a title like that on a movie theater marquee? The SEALs probably used all manner of really neat gadgets and guns but I walked out of the theater by then because it was such an awful waste of my time. |
|
My understanding was that they were Knights 7.62 rifles. Maybe not the M110, probably SR25s (?)
I seem to recall that they didn't use crazy-high magnification optics, either. Aimpoints or maybe irons? Can't recall where I read that. |

View Quote The ports of nations where ships dock are sovereign nations with their own laws regarding firearms that the shipping companies can't control. The US Navy had to act not for the shipping company or the crew, but to protect the larger US interest in maintaining safe water ways for international commerce. As you probably know the USA is the world's leading exporter and importer heavily dependent on global trade. |
