My son got home from school a couple days ago, and noticed this white bird sitting in the garage. He took a few photos of it, and it hung around for awhile, before flying off.  Yesterday, my wife said it was sitting on the house, and then in a tree in the yard most of the day.  Kind of odd. I live out in the boonies.  Never seen one around here before.

Did some magician just go out of business, or is it a sign?

I am tempted to take him out just for crapping on my weed whacker.

One did that at my ex-GF's house. Stayed for the better part of a month. I thought it was a sign for our relationship, happiness and and all that.

What it really meant was to warn me since it turned out she was a soulless ginger intent on eating my soul and sucking the life out of me.

Turns out her fake fits were covering the gaping hole where her heart should have been.  Your white dove results may vary.

This.

Does it have a leg band?

Put some seed and water out for it, it isn't a wild bird.

Don't know about a band.  I haven't seen it yet.  I have been at work both days.

I know most of the neighbors for a mile both ways up and down my road.  No one raises doves that I know of.

I do have a bird feeder out back, but he hasn't seemed to go to it yet.

A neighbor found one last winter.  Caught it and read the ID on the legband.  The bird was 45 miles from home.

Contacted the owner, and owner wanted to sell the bird to my neighbor???

Anyway, the bird was tired and hungry and did not feel like leaving till resting and eating for several days.

Took the bird out one morning and tossed it into the air.  It climbed and circled several times, then took off in the direction of home.    Neat animals.

Harbinger of doom...or supper, your choice.
Wiki sez:  In general, the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are used somewhat interchangeably. In ornithological practice, "dove" tends to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied, and historically, the common names for these birds involve a great deal of variation between the terms.

as mentioned not a wild dove
being a white dove its only a matter of time before a predator gets it

we raise dove never had them get loose though but it happens
doubt it has a band with info on it. doves are not used like homing pigeons
so they arent worth the cost of banding

Thats probably about right. The white ones are normally 'pet' doves used in magic tricks, thats why it see the house a safe zone. Maybe someone will claim it soon.

Probably a dove/pigeon that was released during a wedding.
Had it happen to me.  I lived in an apartment complex.  1 day a I saw a white

pigeon fly out of a tree and land on a dudes shoulder.  Dude just brushed it off

and it flew back into the tree.  I knew then it was somebody's pet.

I went outside and just held my finger out and it didn't hesitate to jump on.

I was used to being handled so I took it inside and called the pet shops.

Eventually, I got in touch with a woman that raised them and gave it to her.
