Reading the threads relating to the North Texas Group with their Hun Farm Shoots and now proposed monthly dinner get-togethers caused me to wonder if any of the Houston area members would be interested in an occasional gathering.

How about an occasional shoot and family picnic at the American Shooting Center? That is an AR friendly range, and there is quite a bit of open land near there that would be suitable for a picnic.

Any suggestions? Does anyone have a rural property that could be used? Or how about the Sam Houston National Forest?

If you guys schedule some of the shoots or dinners near the Woodlands or Cypress areas, I may be able to make it once in a while-- if on the weekend...

An old Police Sgt. in Denton (TWU PD) once told me that he would rather clean toilets in Denton than do any type of work in Houston. He said that N. Texas was God's country and he would never leave it. Maybe he was right. Sometimes it appears that people in Houston are so wrapped up in making another dollar that they don't have time to enjoy life.

Hey guys, West Houston here.

I would also recommend the Sam Houston National Forest for the gathering.

ASC, while nice, is Nazi about the range rules.  The SHNF is unregulated so we can really cut loose up there.  I have a bitmap (BMP) file of directions to the SHNF if anyone needs it.

I've been shooting there for a few years and always have a good time.

I just posted a thread in "meeting and events"
regarding the show this weekend.  I'll be there on Saturday too.  There was also a post about a Houston shoot.  Speaking for myself only, I prefer Saturdays for this type of event because I normally work on Sundays (retail sux) and the occasional Sunday I do get to have off is normally a family kind of day.

Any sat or sun is good for me, as long as I don’t get called offshore.
I will be at the gun show sat wearing a ‘Got Crabs?” hat.
Hotdogs around noon?

Headless, didn’t I meet you at ASC on a rainy day?

How about we meet at the entrance to the show around noon.  There's several Hot Dog places, so we'd never meet up that way.

If I'm wearing a hat, it'll be a blaze orange Astros ballcap.

If anybody has a FRS radio, have it set to channel 2, code 3

H-Town dudes,

Its about freeken time.  I have been waiting for my fellow Houston AR fans to get together.

Lets pull this together and settle on a date, time and place.  I am all over this.  We meet at the gun show on Sat., and afterwards sit down over a beer and decide on an organized shoot in the near future.

Anyway, I'll be there.

As in the past, even with the new Reliant convention center, I think its held in the old building,  I hope I am not wrong, but if I am we can meet at the ticket booth.  (code word..."BEER"
