My mom had an uncle who was gay (passed away several years ago) and he always had big dogs. He had a shepherd lab mix, a greyhound that he rescued and several other labs and such over the years.

The gay guy who lived across the street from me in Michigan had a chocolate lab, and the gay guy living down the hall from me now has two big ol' english mastiffs.

I know the stereotype is that guys with little dogs are queer, but when I think about it, I don't think I've ever known a gay guy who didn't have at least one big 'manly' dog.

I try not to dwell on this subject too long but yes, a lot of gay guys have dogs for pets. I think they offer companionship for them like they do for everyone, but also they serve as a sort of lure....you know, they get to have a reason to hang out in parks while trolling - conversation starter, ect.

It's not so much a gay or lesbian thing, it's a single or DINK thing.

No kids, they have time and disposable income for "projects" like big dogs, lots of travel, or house remodeling etc.

A good number of straight guys (and gals) I know have dogs so they can go to the dog park. I've been. Great place to pick up hot chicks.
