Glock service life of 4 years

They must not shoot their Glocks as much as I do. The light SA Sig triggers do not agree with me. I shoot my revolver with full trigger pull better than my Sig.

I hope they can shoot well enough to make up for the huge lack of mag capicity.

Yeah, I'm going to call B.S. on the motive behind the switch.  Couple years ago my department switched from Gen3 to Gen4 Glocks.  Only reason for the switch was the department was approached by another manufacturer, and offered new duty weapons for only the price of gear and training.  One of the Glock distributors counter offered, so we kept the same brand with the benefit of not having to replace every holster.

Besides, $600/Glock?  WTF?  Even blue label personal officer purchase price for a new piece is only like $390.

I smell palm grease.  Lots of palm grease.

ETA:  Oh, and we had our Gen3's for over 10 years.  We were late to the game coming out of the wild west days with the revolver.

Did anyone else see the part where they are having their ammo specially made for them. Raise any eyebrows?

I guess he should have called it a "fuse."

Interesting switch.   For years all you read about was Depts. dumping all metal S&W semiautos, Berettas, etc... for Glocks, because of how their old guns were at the end of their service life.  This seems like an odd change.

A Glock's service life is longer than 4 years if it's submerged in salt water the entire time.

Our range master was telling me that when we went from the Gen3 to the Gen4, the training department Glocks had approximately 175,000 rounds through each one and I think they were purchased in 2002. We got the Gen4's last year.

They sold all of the Gen3's for $310 a piece to a distributor.

Should be a lot of mags available too.

And then in a few years they will go back to Glock and the dealer doing the switch will again make tons of money on this.  I'll freely admit I'm a sig guy but I want more than 8 rds in my service pistol.

That seems like some ass-backward transition there. From having over 10 rounds, down to 8? Dafuq?

Sounds like a manufactured reason to switch pistols. Don't bust his chops - he just wants new toys for his guys.
