"Due to recent changes made by Reed Exhibitions regarding the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, Cabela’s will no longer sponsor this year’s event. After careful consideration regarding Cabela’s business practices, and the feelings of our customers, Cabela’s will, unfortunately, not have a presence at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show."
Source: Cabela's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Cabelas From the ESO show site: As a hunting-focused event, we welcome exhibitors who wish to showcase products and firearms that serve the traditional needs of the sport. Clearly, we strongly support the 2nd Amendment. However, this year we have made the decision not to include certain products that in the current climate may attract negative attention that would distract from the strong focus on hunting and fishing at this family-oriented event and possibly disrupt the broader positive experience of our guests.
http://www.easternsportshow.com/ Good for Cabelas, IMO. |

I agree with Cabela's in dropping this sponsorship. Since the Eastern Outdoors and Sports Show has decided to prohibit military style weapons and large capacity mags from attending, then think all gun dealers should do the same and boycott the show/set up an altenate.

I love Cabelas.
On a side note, the bargain cave at Cabelas IS the place to buy socks. |
|
Glad to hear this. I will gladly continue to place ammo backorders (that will probably never get filled) from them. And fishing season is coming up, too. All money I would have spent at Dicks is going to Cabela's.
CAB has been a great part of my portfolio, too. |
|
Pleasantly surprised. From the thread title, I thought it was going to be the other way around, i.e., Cabelas dropping support for an event that had AR's.
Glad to still be a customer. |
|
I was happy to see an ar portrayed in a hunting environment on the front of the cabelas catalog I got today
|
|
Our local Cabels and Bass Pro won't be here until 2015.
Mosins will prolly be banned by then. Goddamn it! |

Cabelas remains on my buy from list. This^ And hope to see more companys support us |

More companies need to do this. +1 ... and I will continue to buy from Cabela's |

Cabela's > Bass Pro Bass pro has come a long way But this is big news and a big blow to the show. Im excited about this brings cabelas way up in my book |

Good for Cabela's. The majority of their wares are hunting/fishing related. They are not attending the largest hunting/fishing show on the East coast and will potentially loose business because of it. Tthey are back on my list of suppliers; again good on Cabela's.
I guess they understand hang together or hang separately |
|
Very nice, sounds like my money will keep going to a company that runs awesome sales
|
|
They're not always the cheapest, but I always enjoy shopping there. I practically stole a pair of Justin boots from the Bargain Cave that had a small scuff on them.
|
|
Write to Cabela's and let them know that you support their decision. They are big enough to have influence. Hopefully other big names will follow.

After this insanity has passed...we will remember who stood with us and who kicked us in the teeth.

Way to go Cabelas and I posted this on their FB page Also. Fully support their decision and hope others follow their lead.

I shudder to think of how much I have spent over the years at the Cabelas in Hazelwood MO. This act ensures I will continue to waste money there.
The only way the wife can drag me to the mall is going to The Mills (Cabelas attached). |
|
I wonder what their major profit center is. It sure seems like everytime I am in there most of their staff and customers are in the shooting area

They will never learn, will they. We will hang together or we will hang separately...

We need to voice our thanks to Cabela's

I haven't shopped with Cabelas for a while but I will certainly give them some business due to their laudable stance on the second amendment.

You bet your ass I will remember the panty waist motherfuckers that bowed to any of this bullshit I'm the most diplomatic, easy going dude around. That said, any business entity that conceded even the smallest motherfucking thing to this emotionally driven sophomorish fucking crap will have thrown their chips away to those who stood strong. Cocksuckers! Good on you Cabelas |

How is running and hiding a good thing? This is the kind of event that puts a positive light on the firearms industry. So leave the AR's at the store. They could have still sponsored this and not brought any guns. They have a whole warehouse full of sporting goods. This is a cowardly act than should not be celebrated.
