PA motorcycle inspection conundrum or why Penndot sucks
So I take my bike to get inspected yesterday and go to pick it up and the new fucking inspection sticker says it's only good till 10/1 Mind you the registration sticker is good till 4/13 I'm like WTF? They pull out the dmv.state.pa.us inspections chart and low and behold they are following the PA law which forces me to either (A) get it inspected again in a few months or (B) load the bike on a fucking truck to get it inspected next summer since it will be expired / PA inspections chart––––-> http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/inspections/chart4.pdf " |

I thought virginias inspection program was a racket
That's just retarded |
|
This reminds me I should probably get around to taking my bike in for inspection my NY inspection expired in 2010
|
|
That's a really fucked-up chart. A difference in one month of registration expiration can mean a difference of 11 months of inspection validation. Oh, state regulatory agencies. You so cray-cray.

There used to be an annual emissions inspection here; it cost $10/year.
I used to have to put the core of the catalytic converter back in. With 5 bolts, you could take out the ceramic, palladium coated converter out of it's cast iron chamber. It was so easy. I used to run leaded gas, because it was a little cheaper. Now there's no inspections, since fuel injected cars burn so much cleaner. |

I always feel bad after stopping people, and they give me the scoop on PA's inspection process / laws.
At least NJ did something right. |

What has 4 doors, 6 tires, and sleeps 6 people? A PennDOT truck. John |

This is why the last valid sticker on that bike should be from when it left the dealership. If you do happen to get stopped and taged. Go get it inspected and ask for a hearing. You will be found not guilty when you show proof of inspection in a timely matter.

|
Damn, I thought when FL went from $26 to $41 a year it was bad.
What is the insurance? |

It constantly amazes me when folks choose to live in socialist states and are surprised when the socialist policies eventually affect them in a way they don't approve of.
We have plenty of real estate down here, brother. Come on down so long as you're good with the way we do things. |

Pa is far from a socialist state. That motorcycle inspection is fucked up; 5 or 6 years ago car inspections were just as retarded, having to match the registration. In odd circumstances, an owner might have been required to pay for 3 inspections in 1 year Luckily they that changed that BS...hopefully PennDot will do the same for MC stickers too. Speed |

I think NY inspections used to be odd like that,, like it was always due in March or something odd like that.
|
|
Can you "sell" it to someone who will then in turn sell it back to you?
Or do the plates stay with the bike? In TN you get new plates when you sell a vehicle. Not sure if that helps or makes me look dumb. |

Here in NY you don't even need to goto court, send in the ticket with not guilty plea and receipt of the inspection done with in 48 hours of getting the ticket and your GTG.. thats the only reason my inspection in so current(2010) |

so from the chart why dont you just get your bike inspected after August and then your good till 10/13

<–––––––––– Former PA resident.
Here in SC there is no annual state-mandated vehicle inspection. It is up to each individual to maintain their vehicles in a safe manner. A cop can give you a ticket for defective equipment if you fail to maintain it properly. There used to be an annual inspection, but several years back they did away with it. Everything has gone on fine without it. |

So, I get to relax in my vehicle, have someone pump my gas AND still pay less than you guys. |

Wow, not only do we not have MC (or any other kind) here, in Montana a MC/MC rider is not required to have a helmet, insurance, turn signals or brake light. To be street legal here all you need (Besides plates) is a headlight w/ hi-lo beams at least one side mirror and a tail (but not brake) light,

Well then... Costs us nothing to get our vehicles inspected to. |

I take my car to the hood for inspection. If you have a newer looking car, they pretty much just sign the paper without even really looking at the car.
The people that truly go over the car in my experience are looking to fail you so that they can charge you for the repairs. My SO decided to take her car to get inspected on her own () to a major chain, they wrote up every little thing on the car and of course gave her their expensive as hell estimates to repair all the little (cosmetic shit.. $1200). I bought the parts and had my uncle install for $350. The places I had taken her car to get inspected had passed it with the same cosmetic damage for the previous 3 years. |
|
Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: What is this inspection sticker of which you speak? +1 Apparently a legalized racket Not to mention having to inspect brand new vehicles. Why the F*ck would you force new cars to get inspected? Only positive is I live in a county that doesn't require emission testing. |
