What would be your round of choice ?

What would be your round of choice ? Federal HSTs or Speer Gold Dots +P. In a Model 19, of course. |
|
Quoted: 158 gr LSWCHP+P This. I wouldn't necessarily feel outgunned. Shot placement matters. |

I carry a 442 every day, and it is loaded with Speer Gold Dot 135-grain Short Barrel ammo.

I carry a 442 every day, and it is loaded with Speer Gold Dot 135-grain Short Barrel ammo. ^^^^This.... I carry a 642 in a pocket rig almost all the time. When I can't have P245 or P226 on my, the little Smith would do just fine. Beats nothing and I don't want the hassle and being uncomfortable with a larger weapon. That said, I've been carrying my 226 with 3 18-rounder recently in my tactical diaper bag but that's only for potentially mob type concerns. |

Gold Dot Short Barrel.
Assuming of course...well...your barrel is short |
|
Federal 158 Gr JHP, same one I carried for years in both my duty and off-duty weapons.

Quoted:
the 125 Federal Hydrashock +P it will do the job every time. Got any data to back that up, or did you just pull it out of your ass? And no, I'm not going to volunteer to stand in front of it while you shoot me. |

Your not alone I have not found a single person who wanted to take a couple to prove me wrong. The 125 Hydrashock and the 125 Golden Saber both work fine. |

What if your pistol won't handle +P? Get a new one. Quickly. |

In the old Nyclad round. Wow. So I am not the oldest one up at this hour. At least no one started talking about SuperVels. |

Match wadcutter or the old Nyclad rounds if you can find them. Nothing like soft lead on fluid body tissue to ruin their day.

158 gr LSWCHP+P that's my j-frame load. I use the Remington version, as I've heard ( from Massad Ayoob's writing) that they use the softest lead alloy. |

What if your pistol won't handle +P? Get a new one. Quickly. Whatever. While I prefer +P. I would not feel underarmed with any of the high quality standard pressure 38 special rounds in an older gun. The federal 110 gr hydroshok and winchester 110 gr silvertip would be my first choices in standard velocity 38's. Practice and shot placement would be critical. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

4 inch, Gold Dot 125 +P
3 inch or shorter, Gold Dot 135 +P SB load. And I carry a .38 as a BUG every day, and used to carry one as a primary as well. (As an aside, I don't think Speer makes a 158 Gold Dot in .38.) |

I haven't seen that .38 Nyclad round in years. they are a soft piece of lead, though. If I could find some, I'd probably buy them. I do have a bunch of Federal Nyclad 9mm 124 grain. I wouldn't hesitate to carry them in my glocks, if i was out of my usual +P JHPs. |

Just inherited a Taurus model 85 Short barrel? Pretty much your only sensible choice, if it can handle +P, is Speer Gold Dot for Short Barrel. |
