I saw an interview with him on VH1 a while back, he hated the Cherry Pie song, said he wished he never wrote it.

RIP man, hopefully you find some peace man.

Lane was actually a cool guy.  He was honest about the shittiness of Warrant and hated Cherry Pie.

He got fat in his later years, but the interview I saw was very enlightening.

in another interview he told a story about having to super glue his pants in one of tbe videos, it had me laughing outloud.  Itd be worth finding, Id never be able to retell it and do it justice.

Yeah, he will be missed.  I am a huge 80's metal fan, having grown up durring that time.  They all seem to be passing on well before their time, I feel like a part of my youth is being stripped away.

He and I are the same age. We went to neighboring high schools and graduated the same year. He played Pee Wee football on the same team as my best friend. He was a talented athlete and a likeable guy. I didn't know him well, but I knew who he was, and we had mutual friends. Very sad to see him end up this way.

I don't know why people can't just embrace what makes them successful. Cherry Pie was a huge commercial success and made him famous. Did he think he was going to be Elvis?

Well, I can see your point, but if that was forced as he says, and something he didn't want at all...

then I guess I can see being the "Cherry Pie Guy" being like a worst nightmare.

Becoming what you hate, by force, and it never ending.

It was crap. He knew it, from the interview he sounds like an intelligent guy.

Recently I've been on a Bad Religion kick (the lyrics are intriguing and they don't hold back on vocabulary). They never got commericaly big but I doubt the singer would look back and say "Wow, I'm most known for a terrible song"

In his defense, most 80's rock was pretty crappy.

I was kinda amused at the VH1 flock of seagulls segment they did

the singer for them stated "I hate that fucking song" talking about I Ran

but then said it made me a shitload of money and when I do a show that's what people come to hear so I play the fucker

sad more guys like that can't adopt this attitude

They're "artists".

They don't want to give you what you pay them millions for, they want to give you what THEY want.

btw... I agree with your sentiment.
Sucks that he's dead and all, and sucks even more that he was so miserable about the most successful thing he ever accomplished.

Better to burn out then to fade away? He probably did both. Made lots of money and had the honey's I bet he got a lot of ass. Then became an old faded rock star with little talent. I hope he had fun on the ride.
