Chevron worker indicted in threat to bomb refinery
By JOHN ANTCZAK
Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- An FBI SWAT team arrested a Chevron employee Thursday on charges of threatening to blow up a refinery that makes 4 million gallons of jet fuel daily for Los Angeles International Airport.

Ronald Denton, 37, had told psychologists he planned to bomb the refinery and kill a large number of employees, and had purchased assault rifles and ammunition, federal prosecutors said.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Dave Fields said the search of Denton's condominium found a .30-caliber SKS assault rifle with a 50-round magazine, 1,000 rounds of ammunition for the gun, a book on how to convert the gun to automatic fire, books on C-4 explosives and how to evade arrest, and two handguns. No explosives were found.

Who says the SKS is a POS?

It qualifies as an assault rifle.
