Just saw this movie last sunday. I'm glad I read the posts here first so I didn't expect much. The movie I saw was pretty good though. The stuka attack was unreal. There were some inaccuracies, like the german sniper walking out into the open, but overall a good and fairly accurate movie.
But what I liked best was the accurate depiction of life under a communist/socialist system. This movie does a wonderful job in demonstrating how these governments victimize their own people. I would strongly recommend that every member here take a quasi Democrat friend to this movie, like that hot chick you want to nail. Then when the democrats start shopping their "new" communism, people will see it coming.

i like your idea of taking dems to the movie, but i see only one problem with it: dumb people don't get it. period.

when i went, we sat in front of a young coule. during the scene when the little boy is being bribed, the girl asked her boyfriend why the soldier was giving the food and chocolate to the little boy. like she didn't understand the idea of bribery and paying for information. she had a host of other comments. what's scary is that she is totally clueless about the historical significance of that movie. and no amount of education would work. i could be wrong, and i sincerely hope i am. but dems and libs live in their own world, and blindly refuse to accept anything else as reality.

i have this "friend" who steadfastly refuses to get educated about guns (won't accompany me to range, etc.) but continues to sheeple her way through the media crap and believe every frikkin' word. "who needs and AK-47 anyway?"
and my personal favorite: "who really needs a semi-automatic weapon?"

i asked her if she even knew what semi-automatic meant. her response: NO!

to which i told her she should stop make judgements on topics she knew absolutely jack sh1t about and if she continued spouting bullsh1t i was going to stop the car and she could walk the rest of the way.

how's that? [;)]

I agree with ARlady, my one duasi democrap friend, just would not understand it if you spelled it out in front of him. He is my friend but, damn there is a reason he is not on the other side of the fence. Unlike ARladys friend, he likes to go to the range with me and also goes to watch the IDPA, cowboy action, bowling pin, et. al., shoots that I go watch. He just is not to the point of fully understanding 'us', I try continually to get him to fully understand however; I am not holding up hope.

I wish they would have focused more on becoming a sniper. In the book, he takes Rachel out on what I call a dream date, taking a girl to shoot Nazis.

A colleague said it was almost as good as Beringer's "Sniper"! He liked the "Springfields" the snipers used!

Haven't seen it! Doubt I ever will!

Actually, the "other" russian chick in the camp, whoever she is, was much hotter. I only remember one scene of her doing her makeup but damn. As far as Democrats not getting this movie? I remember the way "The Patriot" made them squirm, this one should really bother them because they will understand it. They may refuse to accept it but this will understand it. But more impotantly, average Americans will understand and accept the message.

And I noticed your other post. Tell your friend there is not one single Springfield in this whole movie. If this is how smart your friend is, you may want to form your own opinion.

I thought it was a pretty good flick....let's face it, anything from Hollywood that's even halfway realistic when it comes to guns is a miracle. I'd made up my mind ahead of time that if the Russian had an AK I was walking out....I'd see it again.

I saw the movie last Sat. I was glad I saw some of the reviews here, though. It wasn't what I'd hoped it would be. Not too bad though.

The sniper rifles looked like Moisin-Nagants to me. And they call them as such in the movie. If I'd heard them called Springfields before hand I'd have watched closer. They did have the obscenly high, commie style scope mounts on them.

One thing I notice was the crowd. At 41, most of the audience was older than me. Most were 50's and 60's couples. There were even 2 60-ish ladies there by themselves. Not even with each other.

There were only 8 or so people younger than me and two dozen or so older. This was a Sat. 1:00 matinee at a multiplex.

Anyone else see something like this.

Steyr, a "colleague" is someone you work with and not necessarily a "friend". And if this "colleague" of mine thought Beringer in "Sniper" (which also sucked) was good, then this tells me that "Enemy at the Gates" sucked as well because he thought it was good too.

I read Robbin's book "War of the Rats". It was also hokey.

I saw it yesterday afternoon. I try to see movies during the week and 1st show, cause I hate all the talking done in the theatre. I live in an ethnic soup.
Anyway I was watching it and this older couple was behind me, the old guy kept telling his wife what was happening in the flick and why. I tried to keep quite, but near the end I turned and politely asked him if he could let other people make up their own minds about what the movie meant. He was offended. BFD
