lost the keys to the stupid disc lock uhaul made me buy
dremel and cordless drill are inside the unit
what kid of powertool is this an excuse to buy? gonna say no to cordless grinder for now. doubting a cordless dremel will have the battery power to cut it... new cordless drill to drill it? |

More seriously, if this article is the style lock you are referring to, it has some good info.
http://ironsandladders.com/2009/11/13/hockey-puck-locks/ At work I have the FDNY guide to forcible entry, which includes a nice section on defeating locks, but I won't be back there for another 3 days. Hopefully you'll be in by then haha. We don't see too many hockey puck style locks, so I don't remember exactly how we get through them (though I would use either the rotary saw or a hydraulic cutter or spreader depending on circumstances.) I also have the advantage of not having to worry about destroying the door if I need in haha. |

Canned air (computer cleaner) upside down to freeze it, hammer to break it. Otherwise an angle grinder will make quick work of it.

I was helping my brother move stuff from a storage unit and he forgot the keys- I used a set of standard bolt cutters. I just has to chew through the disk until I could get the jaws on the hasp. Took about 1 minute.

The harbor freight angle grinders are one of the best tools they sell. Powerful and cheap. They are often on sale for $15. They will make short work of any hanging type lock.
ETA: pick up a pair of safety glasses when you buy it. I hate seeing people run stuff like that without them.

Borrow a drill from a buddy, then just drill out the brass keyway pins & pop it open.

UHaul makes you buy locks now?
No way to fit a standard shackle lock to their hardware? I had rented a storage unit a year or so ago and they required cylinder locks due to the way the doors were made. Hate that crap; it's a pretty transparent attempt to squeeze the customer by making them buy a lock they'll likely not have already. Oh, and by the way, we sell them right here! |

If it's those stainless sheet metal round locks you can take a 3/8 drill and bore right through the center of the keyhole with a cordless drill. It takes a few seconds. It's that easy.
