Attacked by a man wielding a frying pan and a knife, an Overland Park man swung his banjo.

Police say the Monday banjo blow to the head stopped the assailant, who was treated for a cut and taken to jail.

On Tuesday, Johnson County prosecutors charged Alexander L. Hilton with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

The incident happened about 9 p.m. Monday at an apartment in the 7600 block of Shawnee Mission Parkway, police said.

The
two 21-year-old friends were drinking and arguing about a band when
Hilton grabbed the kitchen weapons and attacked, police said.

The victim happened to have banjo in hand and used it in self defense, they said.

The smell of alcohol was prevalent, police said.

The 7600 block of Shawnee Mission Parkway is a very close approximation.

Probably more to the story. Banjo fella probably started it his 'dueling banjos' serenade...

Whoo...I moved out of Prairie Village just in time to avoid the mayhem.

Of course, I moved to Durham, NC where people tend to get shot instead of hit with hillbilly instruments...
