light lip service, no official condemnation, no international consensus, status-quo on mil and economic aid status.

Zero does nothing as usual. Admittedly, it is a rock and a hard place for Obama. Bush would have sent them a few crates of harpoons and OTH targeting doodads for their aircraft.

The UN Gen Council can make statements, but cannot act on shit. But this also proves a point about the uselessness of the UN. Condemning a vibrant democracy and modern state and member of good standing, while floatilla of unaffiliated amateurs deliver concrete that could be used to build structures from which to hide from white phosphorous instead of hiding under children.

Not trying to be funny, but rather trying to illustrate how F'ed up the whole situation is.

I think you may be mistaken. A NATO flotilla doing the boardings, perhaps even with Chinese help (they are interested in expanding their naval capabilities), and then letting the approved vessels pass, seems like one of those diplomatic solutions that sounds great on paper.

Like I said, I don't like it. It holds no personal appeal to me.

You must not have been paying attention during all those Israel is going to nuke Iran threads.

1 active sumner class DDG from the USA, a handful of british designed frigates, and some fast corvettes.

Their best chance is to have the DDG or a frigate do command and control to direct a few of their corvettes, which would be nice against surface vessels, but Israel would probably just fuck them with their AIP subs or an overwhealming airstrike.

I'm sorry, the Iranian Navy has absolutely NO purpose being in the Med. Everyone with a boat in the Med should be running them out of it, including the British, Italians, USA, Greeks, and even the Egyptians.

Those are all IRN assets. The IRGCN is the one who would "escort" the aid shipments. That means Hudong class missile boats or smaller. More likely, as someone else pointed out, they would be armed guards on the ships.

I certainly hope, for the Iranians' sake, that they have some equivelent of SGLI.

They would have to access it through the Suez Canal, but the bigger issue is how will Iran supply/replenish it's ships? Iran doesn't run a "blue water" navy. Other than a few Kilo class subs, they don't venture far from port.

I dunno. Egypt and Iran don't play well together, but this is the type of issue that they could come together on. Egypt had some shit to say about his mess, and they all hate Israel. Guess we could find out.

The Egyptians hate the Palis more. They also don't want to loose US military aid, and I'm sure that allowing Iranian vessels to transit the Suez could affect that.

Racism aside, the term "raghead" generally refers to Arabs. Iranians are Persian not Arab. So not only does the term have a racist overtone, it's also technically inaccurate. It's what I call a twofer.

I think technically you are incorrect; Rag head is often used to refer to a larger variety of ethnic groups from middle east, to include Arabs, Iranians and Afghans.

Usually that's the case because the ignorant racist doesn't understand the fact that not everyone in the Middle East is an Arab.

You do realize that being an Arab is an ethnic group, not a religion. There are Christian and even Jewish Arabs. But what racist comments do, like calling someone a raghead, is to lump everyone into one group and dehumanize them.

If you don't understand the difference between Arabs and Nazis then perhaps you need to spend less time on arfcom and more time educating yourself.

Actually, when I was over there I told my guys the difference. Actually one of my E-6s brought up the difference to me.
